:cry:Well I'm a first year student and at my school you take A&P1 along with nsg fundamentals and other nsg courses. About 3/4 of the class is failing A&P1 because our teacher is a fresh grad his self and thinks we're on his level. This class is so hard and I've talked to him about extra credit and everything but nothing is working. Well the problem is you must pass A&P1to progress into med surg, and its only given in the spring semester. So if I dont pass A&P1 (which I probally will not) then I must wait an entire year to progress in nsg school. This sucks on so many levels. I attent a private EXPENSIVE school, tution is 8K/semester. I don't know what to do. I mean I knew nsg school would be hard but im doing fine in those classes. Has anyone ever been at this point?
Well I failed the course with an D. I spoke to the Dean of Students over the Christmas break and he said it's ok just retake the class in the summer and to advance with nursing school. Well today my first day back in class my nursing professor whispered in my ear that I couldn't stay in her class until I passed A&P-I and that she already spoke with the dean about it. I spoke with the dean myself and of course he upheld her decision. He did apoligize for what he said over the Christmas break but that he wasn't up to date on the exacty policy. So of course this means 1 more year tacted on to my wonderful degree. YAY (ugh). I have been so disappointed all day. I am a strong person and I hardly ever cry but I have done so twice since I started nursing school. I know this will all work out; I will just take some other nursing classes until I can get back into clinicals again (next January). But atleast for today I need my dark room, house phone unplugged, and cell phone off. I have worked so hard and now have another hurdle to leap over. Sorry if this post is long or depressing I just needed to vent.

Go ahead and cry, but while your crying, start studying your A and P , being that you have been given another chance to make it.
AP is a very challenging class. I passed AP 1 with a B and AP 2 with a A( and I took it in 7 weeks). I couldn't imagine doing it while in nursing school, although I know many people who did and did well. What helped me was going to tutoring, studying in study groups, and staying after class to discuss things with my instructor. I would also suggest having a skeleton in your home or going to the library to borrow one. I had a skeleton in my office and when ever I had free time I would look at it and practice memorizing the bones. At my school we also had lots of models for muscles, lungs, stomach, heart and etc. I would look at the models daily to memorize parts and functions. So far as cells. Just type in what cell you are studying and lots of slides will appear... For example if you are studying nuetraphils... put it in google and they have wonderful slides online. You just really have to review and study all the time. Its hard, but you can do it !
I took A&PI & A&PII in 16 weeks, 8 weeks for each, along with Micro. I thought I was going to die! I read everything, wrote notes as I read, and typed out study guides. One thing that really helped is that I voice recorded the study guides I made, put them on my ipod, and listened to them while I was sleeping or would have it playing while I worked out, cleaned, etc. I still do that with my classes now. I passed all 3 classes with 106%.
Yeah I didnt have much of a life, but Im in a private school as well and Im learning as much as I can to be the best nurse as I can be. Student nurse journey.com also helped and they have alot of interactive websites.
I wish you the best. I think A&P & Micro are so much harder than fundamentals and pharmacology!

The coloring book saved my butt in both A&P I & II, I couldn't even imagine trying to take it during nursing school! luckily it was pre-req and I turned around and took A&P II the following semester before all the information leaked out
