  1. I'm very interested in hearing a reply as well.
  2. Hi. I graduate from nursing school in May from a neighboring GA state and I am wanting to work in Atlanta right after school. It seems that alot of hospitals are not currently hiring besides Grady. I spoke with a nurse recruiter from there, although she seemed extremely busy and rushed, eagerly explained that they do hire new grads from out of state as long as you have a current GA license. So my question is.....Is this information correct and valid or is the market just as cut throat as other facilities? I hate to apply for a license there not find a job and then have to wait 3 months to get a license in my home state. I so desperately want to work at Grady and live in Atlanta. I love the fast pace and a good trauma hospital. All information on jobs in Atlanta, specifically Grady would be very appreciated.
  3. Well I failed the course with an D. I spoke to the Dean of Students over the Christmas break and he said it's ok just retake the class in the summer and to advance with nursing school. Well today my first day back in class my nursing professor whispered in my ear that I couldn't stay in her class until I passed A&P-I and that she already spoke with the dean about it. I spoke with the dean myself and of course he upheld her decision. He did apoligize for what he said over the Christmas break but that he wasn't up to date on the exacty policy. So of course this means 1 more year tacted on to my wonderful degree. YAY (ugh). I have been so disappointed all day. I am a strong person and I hardly ever cry but I have done so twice since I started nursing school. I know this will all work out; I will just take some other nursing classes until I can get back into clinicals again (next January). But atleast for today I need my dark room, house phone unplugged, and cell phone off. I have worked so hard and now have another hurdle to leap over. Sorry if this post is long or depressing I just needed to vent.
  4. delta phi upsilon fraternity inc. d phi phi uuuuuuu.. pink panther #2 private eyez alabama interset group i pledged my first semester in nursing school with clinicals and all, and passed.
  5. Don't feel bad my friend. At my small christian private school anything less than an 80 is a D and you fail. They also have a no rounding up policy so a 79.99 is 79 and of course you fail. Along with these strict grading scales students take most pre-req's along with nursing courses and clinicals. Through it all I just passed my first semester, and it goes to show you to just keeping pushing through. Even if you have to retake a class, don't let anyone get in your way of your career objectives.
  6. I'm currently taking A&P with my nursing classes and man is it rough. All I do is study all day everyday. It can be done, but I wouldn't wish this course load on my worst enemy. If you happen to fail A&P then most schools won't let you advance with your nursing classes. Try to take some classes before you start.
  7. I don't really enjoy doing nursing dx either, because it's like trying to pull something out of thin air. One thing about nsg dx is, it's always easy to make a "risk for" or "potential" dx. With these dx's you don't have to back it up with signs or symptoms. An example, with your patient, would be Risk for ineffective breathing related to cigarrete smoking. Try to get some more info. from the patient like how long have they been smoking, what kind of cig. do they smoke (menthol???), do they cough frequently, listen to breath sounds, does patient have stained or yellow teeth. An example would be Ineffective breathing related to cigarrete smoking manifested by dry nonproductive cough in AM and bilateral wheezing breath sounds. I'm not a wiz on nsg dx by any means necessary but I hope this helps. Your Nsg textbooks should have some good examples and definitions. Try to find some med/surg books as well to help out. Always remember nsg dx is the patients problem related to the etiology manifested by signs and symptoms. Phuture_rn
  8. I was just trying to get a general definition. An example would be Metoprolol, to 78yr old bl. male with hypertension.
  9. Can someone tell me what are nursing interventions of giving a medication?
  10. Thank you all so much. Today in class the teacher formally apoligized for making the class so hard and will drop our lowest test score. He is also started giving extra credit assignments and weekly quizes from old tests. It will be hard but I will make it through. We are starting to go into the skelaton system so it's a bit easier than cells and stuff. Today was so much better than yesterday, I can't even begin to explain. Although it's small I can see a light at the end of this semester (lol). Thank you all for the encouraging words, it really brought my spirits up.
  11. :cry:Well I'm a first year student and at my school you take A&P1 along with nsg fundamentals and other nsg courses. About 3/4 of the class is failing A&P1 because our teacher is a fresh grad his self and thinks we're on his level. This class is so hard and I've talked to him about extra credit and everything but nothing is working. Well the problem is you must pass A&P1to progress into med surg, and its only given in the spring semester. So if I dont pass A&P1 (which I probally will not) then I must wait an entire year to progress in nsg school. This sucks on so many levels. I attent a private EXPENSIVE school, tution is 8K/semester. I don't know what to do. I mean I knew nsg school would be hard but im doing fine in those classes. Has anyone ever been at this point?
  12. My class will be going to the nursing home on Oct. 7. I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
  13. I am a first year student and my class is finally learning NG tubes and Catheters. I was so happy to get a change from the hand washing and nursing process stuff. Don't get me wrong that's just as important but now were getting to what I signed up for lol ( real life). How is everyone else coming along in there first year?
