I am a little bored right now-taking only general ed courses this semester. I already bought a Medical Terminology book and worked through it on my own. Next semester I will have A & P and Microbiology. I was wondering if there were any books any of you would recommend right now to kind of get a start on it. I was thinking along the lines of "A & P for Dummies" or "Microbiology Made Incredibly Easy" or something like that. What do you all think?
Try using a textbook that your professor HANDWROTE!! UGH....the drawings were all in black and white. We still had to pay about $140 for his books. His class was worth it because we were able to dissect human cadavers, which was a blast. I really can't think of a better dissection experience than getting to pull the brain out of the cranial cavity or being able to feel the lungs as they inflate. The crappy textbooks were worth the experience. If anyone is interested, my professor has a website that has all his class info (he teaches an online microbiology class that's 3 weeks long...talk about intense!) and some of it is pretty interesting. The classes range from O Chem to Micro to Human Nutrition to Genetics (and A & P of course). The link is
I'm lucky enough to have a teacher who tests directly from her lecture notes (which she hands out at the beginning of every class!), but when I don't understand something the Marieb book is a good resource. We're using the 6th ed. The lab manual does leave something to be desired, though.
My AP class is all lecture notes.. he gives them in class and we write em down. Never crack a book in his class. His lab however, is something be feared. 2 tests ALL year (and its comming up next week) and he says he will get material from the lab excersise, the lab manual, AND the AP book

MY AP class uses Elain Marieb's 6th edition. It is pretty good and has good illustrations to follow. The lab manual to it is not very good though. I dont like it.
