A & P 1&2

Published

Hi Everyone!

I can hardly believe that my first semester of school went so well and quick, especially with 4 kids! My winter break is almost coming to an end and back to school I go!

This semester I will be taking Structure and Function (which is basically A & P) Unlike other schools they are combining 1 & 2 into just one semester. The class is 3 hrs 25 min. Half class is lecture and the other half is lab. I know I have to stay on top of it and not get behind, but I was wondering does anyone have any other tips that helped them?

Thanks!

All I can say is that for lab, if you have to do AOI's (action, origin, and insertion) of all the muscles, make note cards and study them every night for an hour or so. Also, keep up with reading and understanding processes, not just memorizing facts. This will help you remember things for a longer amount of time. But note cards, for lab and lecture, are a great way to quickly review key concepts. Also, don't forget to look at diagrams and charts to understand them! My professor formed a lot of questions around them.

Im just starting A&P1 too. I already started making my notecards for chapter 1. Im kind of surprised they combine A&P. How many hours a week are you going than? 2 full days? and 3.5 hours at night?

Well I am done with my a&p classes but I went twice a week for an hour and 15 minutes and then lab was once a week for 3 hours.

For A&M, the first a&p is harder than the 2nd. This is just because the lab of the first one is much harder due to AOI's. just crack down on those!

the concepts are also a little harder in the first one because you have to learn every little detail of skeletal muscle contraction, smooth muscle contraction, and nerve impulses. Really get those down as well. (if they are included in the course you are taking currently).

It helps to quiz yourself, read, and read again. I would also recommend recording lectures with a tape recorder (if permitted by the professor).
