You haven't posted lately...............have you decided where you are going to attend school?

    Hi Suzanne

Thanks for your eagerness to guide me.
I will provide you with both the Diploma and degree classroom and training hours from the admission prospectus as soon as i can get it.
Regarding studying in US, the tuition fees are a bit costly and i didn't get any information about the work study programme. So it would be better to get a diploma here and go to US through green card and then continue with the studies if possible.
But will this Green card recruitment be there till 2010. what's your opinion?..
  3. by suzanne4
Green cards will always be here, whether they will continue then to be fast-tracked,no one knows for sure unless you have a crystal ball. Just like three years ago, they thought that H1-B visas would always be available for nurses.
Same thing, with the NAFTA visa, no one knows........................

Your program looks fine to me, but remember that CGFNS evaluates each nurse on an individual basis.
If you graduate in three years, why is it going to take you until 2010 to go to the US?
  7. by solo_luv
Don't we need 2 to 3 years of experience to be eligible to work in US?. I will be completing the diploma by 2007. But i am still confused, whether to go for 4 yr B.Sc Nursing degree, incase if they change the policies and allows only 4 year degree people to work there. any opinion?
Also I didn't get your quote saying 'CGFNS evaluates each nurse on individual basis'.
do you mean the interview evaluation or something else.
from your previous post I take it granted that the diploma here will be equivalent to the professional course in US. am i right?
    Thanks for your comments....

Agencies want you to have two to three years experience, but you can contract directly with a facility and go as a new grad and start at new grad salary.
If you ask CGFNS right now about your curriculum, they will tell you that they review each application on an individual basis. Your classes look fine to me, but I am not the one that gives the final okay, only they do.
One problem with the diploma is that it may not get you credit for many of your hours unless the classes are university or college based. So if you were going to go on for your BS in the US, you may have to redo some hours. This doesn't always happen but it can. Best would be to send an e-mail to a few programs in the US and see if they would fully honor your hours.

    Good luck.

if i go for B.Sc nursing degree that is affiliated to a university then will i able to go for MSN studies after coming there. Here the colleges does not give any credit hours like the colleges in US.

    YES
That is my point, if you go for the four year degree and not the diploma, it will be much quicker for you to go on for your MSN and not have to repeat much of the same.

    [font=Comic Sans MS]Hi,

[font=Comic Sans MS]I Don't want to get too confused, I am already an American citizen but have the 3 year Advanced Diploma and am on the Register here in England. Will this affect me taking the NCLEX or CFGNS (spelling?)
  12. by suzanne4
Yes it will because in the UK you are trained as a specialist and not a generalist. You are required to have a certian number hours of didactics as well as theory in all of the major areas including adult, mental health, and pediatrics..if you have the three year degree form the UK as a specialist it will not be accepted in the US without you taking the other sections first.

But please post only under one heading......................
