Nclex and Visa application

Hello, I'm a Registered nurse here in the Philippines and I used to hold a multiple entry tourist visa, it expired 2 years ago and I renewed it under the Visa Reissuance Program but unfortunately, i got denied. Now, i'm planning to take the NCLEX and apply again for a tourist visa. My question is, what should be my top priority? My nclex or visa application? I'm afraid the US consul might deny me again if he/she knew that i took the nclex. Please, I need your opinions about this matter that's been bugging me for quite sometime. Thank you.:cool:

It depends on why you are taking NCLEX, if you are only trying to be a tourist.

You do not require an NCLEX o be a US tourist. If you wish to work in the US, a tourist visa will not permit that.

You can take the NCLEX in the Philippines. You do not need a visa to sit the NCLEX. Depending on why you got denied, you may be denied again if they feel that you are attempting to inappropriately use a tourist visa to seek work.

You don't apply for the NCLEX, you apply for a nursing license by examination as an internationally educated nurse. You must fulfill all eligibility requirements before a board of nursing will give you authorization to take the NCLEX-RN. NCLEX is but one step in the process, passing the NCLEX is neither a guarantee of a license nor a condition of visa issuance.

THANK YOU for responding to my queries. I feel so relieved after reading all of your comments. All I want is to travel again and spend time with my family in the US. I don't intend to work in the US with a tourist visa because if that's my intention, I would have worked and over stayed in the US when I had the chance. I just thought that taking the NCLEX will be a ground for visa denial, I got scared and couldn't take another rejection from the US embassy that's why i'm hesitant to take the NCLEX here in the Philippines.

As there are very few reasons to take the NCLEX other than to work in the US, it could be a contributing reason to denying a tourist Visa, as numerous tourists have attempted to bypass retrogression regs.

Due to the abuse that has been seen by people with the tourist visa it is getting harder and harder to qualify. I would concentrate on taking the NCLEX and meeting state requirements, find a job and then apply for tourist visa and show plenty of ties for coming back like a employer letter showing you are expected back to work on a certain date

Thank you so much. I finally made up my mind and decided to take the NCLEX first. Do you guys have any idea which state doesn't require a social security number?
