Hey guys, new to this website....but I've found it so helpful in the short time that I've been here....but I was wondering if anyone is a graduate, current student or knows of any reputation about Bellin College and their nursing program. I want to know how competitive it is, how well their graduates place and pass the exam and just overall if there are any info about the college.

The reason I'm asking is that, I'm looking to apply to several ABSN program here in Wisconsin, and I was told that with my grades, I would be guaranteed a spot in their program when I applied versus other program. So I just would like to know if anyone has any other info about them.

bellin is a very good nursing school, no wait lists. a great way to get in and get your nursing degree without all the frustration of the tech school wait lists and their constant changing pre-reqs. however bellin is very expensive. i would live to do their 15 month accelerated program (i have a ba in business), but am not willing to go $60k in debt to do so. so i have resigned to the fact that i will have to remain on the wait list at nwtc until i finally get in, earn my adn and then go on to get my bsn.

actually, i believe it is much less. around $33,000

as for others wondering about their gpa requirements: the accelerated program requires a 2.7 for transfer credits.

I just applied for January 2011, for anyone who has done the accelerated program how expensive did it end up being? Did Bellin give you any aid or scholarships? I know you can't get federal aid after you already have a bachelors degree so I am just curious if Bellin puts together a good financial aid package.

Hi all,

I'm considering going to Bellin for the ABSN program as well for January 2011. It sounds like a great program but I'm just a lil worried about the cost. I'm not sure if I qualify for financial aid since I've already have a bachelor degree. Let me know if you have any suggestions or info, thanks!

Well you won't qualify for federal aid like I said in my post, but you will qualify for stafford loans and private loans and Bellin might give you some money also. I am hoping some other Bellin students in the ABSN have some info on this.

I currently work with two nurses who attended Bellin. They both enjoyed the school and their experience. One did tell me, however, that if she knew then what she knew now, she would never have gone into so much debt for her nursing degree.

The second one told me that her loan payments/month are higher than her mortgage payment. (of course, I don't know how much of that was strictly books/tuition.)

Does anyone know how many applicants Bellin receives for the accelerated program and how many they accept?

"Bellin is good school but is private and quite costly. There prerequistes are quite specfic. It is affliated with a Bellin Health (hospital) and I hear there clinicals are great. There are several universities (UW) that are high ranked also. Have high entrance requirements, but no waist lists. I do withhold my opinions about technical schools. I am a BSN and am such prejudice."

I am an ADN; the year I graduated from Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, NTC had the highest NCLEX pass rate in the state (that included Techs, all UW programs and diploma programs).

When I read this post, my eyes popped out of my head. While I agree that a BSN is wonderful, it is not the be all end all...Please note the bold sections of the above post...THERE should be THEIR in both cases. As far as the last line is concerned, I can only guess. Perhaps, " I am a BSN and as such am prejudiced."

I graduated from BCON May 09... when it was next door to the hospital. In retrospect, I am thoroughly satisfied with my experience. I was in the last 21-month accelerated BSN program*, so I "saved" money when I took my pre-reqs at a UW school. But it's true, you get in and out, no messing around. And they have a brand new facility to enjoy! I liked the small class size, and Green Bay's hospitals are pretty top-notch when it comes to clinical experience.

Since I graduated, I got a job in the Air Force Nurse Corps. I don't know if it's from Bellin, or from the Air Force's Nurse Transition Program, but I felt very well prepared on the floor, even during my orientation stage. And, having my BSN, I can apply to AFIT (Air Force's Graduate School) to work towards my NP, or whatever. So far, I'm gaining clinical experience and have no desire to leave the bedside, but eventually, I might want to switch things up.

Bellin is pricey, but they have some scholarships available, which they automatically help you apply for. I was sent numerous emails about new/upcoming scholarships to apply for. I felt my education was well worth the hassle of student loans.

*So, Bellin College only has a 15-month accelerated BSN program now. I talked to one of those students. Be prepared for CRAZINESS. Classroom lectures all morning, eat lunch, then clinicals all evening... oh, but don't forget about studying/homework/group projects. You'll be amazed at how efficient you can become with your 24 hr day. :)

Housing was a pain. They don't have any dorms for accelerated students- normally the UWGB kids stay on that campus, likewise for St. Norbert's. Thank goodness I just so happened to make the right emails to the right people, and I was hooked up with some UWGB kids that lived off campus, and close to Bellin. But I believe there's a board at Bellin... or used to. It had apartments for rent, or people looking for roommates, as well as jobs available for nursing students, or new grads.

Hey all. I graduated from Bellin College of Nursing in 06' and I feel that the college really prepared me for my nursing career. The clinicals were around town and easy to get to. Many learning experiences and lectures were pretty good. Yes, it was pricey and I will probably be paying on my loans for a while, but overall, I feel that Bellin is a great school. NWTC is great too. Don't get me wrong, but I feel that Bellin teaches you a lot more in clinical than in the lectures....but I also feel that in the lectures you get to apply what you learn in clinical. Great school!
