WGU Texas BSN (prelicensure)...Biochem???

i was planning to take it here -

berkeley offers a self paced biochem class -

introductory biochemistry course - uc berkeley extension

here's a list of alternative sources that was on WGU's website - alternative sources, natural science i am taking mine directly through wgu though. they tell you that you have to have all the nursing prereqs done, but sometimes they will let you have one missing. i know a few of the people in my class have one or two prereqs to finish up. i think it just depends on the pool of candidates at the time you apply.

thanks for the list Teresa, i also see that they accept straighterline chem but when i asked my advisor a few weeks ago she said they don’t....I’m so confused.....also you one of the lucky ones ...they only let you take classes threw WGU if they don’t have enough candidates for a cohort in your area . I’m in calif and my advisor said they have no need to offer it here since there are so many candidates that already have the classes ...

Straigherline doesn't offer biochem, only chemistry so that's probably why. There are only 7 in my cohort and that was one of the reasons I was hustling to get everything done because I had a feeling that once this program is more established the spots would fill up much faster. I wish I could be more help.

Is anyone still following this thread. I'm thinking of enrolling in the pre-liscensure program but I do not have a ADN. I am LVN. Do I still have a change of being accepted?

You do not need an ADN for the prelicensure program. An LVN certainly has a good chance. You will need to get all the prereqs out the way, but that is it.

I am answering this thread -eventhough it is old. But this might help the next person.... WGU now accepts TCC's- CHEM1406- Essentials

of General and Biological Chemistry.

I submitted all the required documentation to have the course evaluated and reviewed. This course is now accepted as the BIOCHEM prereq course. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Thank you for let us know. When did you found out this? Because I spoke with one of the admissions advisor that i have chem 1406 from TCC and she said that I had to take biochem anyways

Sorry for the late reply. But I was told that when I submitted the course syllabus to get the course approved. When my class was approved I asked if this was just for me or everyone and they said everyone.
