Did this happen to you?

I have sent my transcripts to for their online RN to BSN Program.

On one of my college transcripts/institutions right after high school I took an AP Spanish Class and received credit for two classes. WGU is making a huge deal saying that they need to see the actual AP documentation, which means a delay of two weeks or more and close to 30 bucks.

On another college transcript, it says I have two classes in progress this semester, which I do since I am finishing up my BS in Public Health, but the person helping me says THEY WILL NOT evaluate the transcripts because of the in progress classes.

What the heck? Its been sooo difficult for them to do this, why does this happen? The person I am taking to is ***** ****, anyone familiar with him?

Thanks again

Fortunately, my transcript evaluation went seamlessly on 's end. One of the schools I attended took over a month to release my transcripts, but that incident was not the fault of the WGU transcript department or evaluators.

It is reasonable, valid and rather prudent for WGU's transcript evaluator to refuse to evaluate your coursework that is currently in progress because they cannot grant transfer credit if you have not yet earned the credit.

They have no way of knowing if you will withdraw from the courses in progress due to unforeseen circumstances. They have no way of knowing if you will pass or fail the courses in progress. They have no way of knowing if you will earn an 'A,' 'B,' 'C' or 'D' grade, and they cannot grant transfer credit in the event that you do earn a 'D.'

Since the transcript evaluator has no crystal ball to predict how you'll perform in these courses in progress, they cannot evaluate what has not been completed on your end.

It is common knowledge that it is notoriously difficult to receive transfer credit for AP coursework. Since foreign language is not a requirement for the WGU RN-to-BSN program, I would not have even bothered to attempt to receive transfer credit for these courses.

I am sorry you're encountering these difficulties, but I can step into their shoes for a moment and see their perspectives.

My transcripts were all received by just within the last week so I'm curious how it will all transpire. I took a few classes back in the 1990s. Those classes transferred in to my nursing school but I hope they're not too old for WGU and I will have to take them over again. One was Biology and the others were humanities courses. I'm in the process of looking at WGU, Notre Dame online, Chamberlain, and Chico State for a BSN degree. I'm a full time working RN and would like to continue working as many hours as possible while working toward the BSN. So far, WGU seems to be pretty popular with most students.

WGU accepted some transfer credits for coursework that I had completed at a California community college back in 2000 and 2001. To my knowledge, the only course with a five-year stipulation is the statistics. If you wish to receive transfer credit for a statistics class, you must have taken it no longer than five years ago.

Otherwise, they accepted my A&P I and II from 2007, my English 101 from 2000, political science from 2001, and other coursework taken many moons ago. I entered the program with 86 credits (50 credits granted en bloc for my active RN license + 36 transfer credits).

Thank you. I still need to take statistics so I think I'll do it this coming spring. I graduated from UH Maui in May and work full time. I'm still taking classes on campus toward a BSN until I find an online program. I also plan to move back to California next June, hence the thought of doing the BSN at Chico State. They deliver their program online which would allow me to continue working after I move. When I started looking at online schools, there were so many my head was spinning! Thank you for your input and also for narrowing down the cost options on one of your other posts.

They took my college algebra class from 1992.

I also had them demand my AP transcripts, though none of them made a difference in my actual transcript eval.

They just asked me for an additional transcript but it was an oversight on my part. I missed two online psychology classes that were part of the UH system but not within my home campus.
