Ca pre-licensure

Nursing Students Western Governors

Hello everyone! Well it's that time again application deadline time. I know there was just a deadline on June 1st for the Aug. cohort and the next deadline is July 1st for the Sept. cohort. How is everyone doing in the process. Is it coming along okay for you? Any problems? There hasn't been very much activity on this board about these cohorts. As for me still trying to make sure everything is done for that July deadline. Who's with me?

Is this for Pre-BSN Licensure in CA?

I just applied for that program as well-woohoo! :) Is the clinical portion in LA at Cedars Sinai? Sure wish they used the Cottage Hospital System near Goleta/Santa Barbara-I am only about 45 minutes north of SB! There are quite a few RN's in the hospital system for which I work that are finished their BSN or Masters through there as well and they seem to really like it. I was kind of thinking the commute for clinical might be daunting but you know-its better than being on a darn community college waitlist for three years or more; it seems to take forever to get in in my area!

I think this is the Cedars group but not 100% sure. Cottage would be awesome, but I'm in the Bakersfield area so it's going to be quite a commute for me no matter where lol. But Cedars is a great hospital to learn at. But sadly things have come up with one of my kids and I don't think I'm going to make the deadline and this is the last cohort of the year I believe so I will probably have to wait till next year but I'm going to keep pushing until the last second praying to make it lol.

Well I sure hope it works out for you and you get into the cohort you hope for! I am in Lompoc so a bit closer to LA- but still; if the cohort location changes to anything farther I would probably reconsider. Again good luck to you!

I'm currently aiming for the Oct 1st deadline for a Jan 17 start date :)

I just took my first TEAS test this morning, and am finishing up my last pre-reqs with Straighterline for AP1 and AP1L

Really hoping I am competitive enough to be seriously considered.

I have a B.S. in Physiology from 2009, a MS-HCM from 2014, and am also currently a certified case manager with 5 yrs of Healthcare experience. Got my fingers crossed so hard - I know its ultra hard to get into the CA Cohorts.

What are your guys' profiles like?

Bets luck to all!

HI! I worked as a school nurse and in public health in Fairfax County VA when we were stationed in the DC area, then we PCS'd to Vandenberg AFB in California and I worked as an LVN for about 12 years in SNF/LTC, obtained a BS in SOcial Psychology from Park University during that time, then lectured and taught lab and clinical as an LVN instructor here in California and went back to my place of work in LTC after my husband retired from the AF last June. Now I'm hopefully going to begin my RN! :) I had to take the PN predictor for this particular merit based program BUT other Cali programs require the TEAS instead.

Esj87 I think you have a high possibility of getting in. I got in for the sept 16 cohort and didn't think I would due to a lousy teas score.... but I did!!! I think my medical experience and gpa is what got me in because the teas sure didn't lol

Hi CaRT2RN - thank you for the kind words!!!

I actually got a 92.7% on my first Teas try so I was super relieved to say the least! My GPA isn't so hot, it's like 3.3 or so- so I'm actually hoping my Teas improves my file for their selections...

Im about 35% done with the StraighterLine AP1+Lab course.... It is a doozy! So much darn work, I moved in the end of July so I haven't done much for the last 6 weeks or so... gearing up again to power through! I have a 95% in both of the classes right now but I'm worried about the midterm and final!!

Only the straighterline final A&P is moderated, and the final doesn't have much weight. I finished it in may, good luck!

Can you share your experience with straightliner a/p lab?
