Nursing Students Western Governors

GUESS WHAT!!!!

I just found out last night that I will be starting with the September 1st Cohort at in Daytona Beach FL! I can't wait to start, but am a little anxious as to what the classes will be like. I'm hoping to use this thread to connect with others of this class (I think there are only 10 of us all together) or others already in the program at this location.

I have also read many threads full of questions asking what this program is like, with very few answers from current students/alumni. I plan to keep this thread updated on my experience and answer any questions that potential students may have. As the program is still quite small, it is hard to find an alum out there to talk with, especially one from a specific location. I want to be a resource for others to learn about the program as I am going through it. I know that offers the pre-licensure BSN in a few different states, and I'm sure one's experience could vary greatly between different locations.

Also, if you already attend WGU at any location and could offer any advice for someone just starting, like me, that would be GREAT APPRECIATED!

I hope to start the Florida program in Fall 2014. Any updates on the program and how your first term is going? Thanks!

Hi. I am interested in BSN (pre-licensure) program in Florida. This thread was about 2 years ago. So I am guessing you have already started or close to being finished. I would love to know your personal feedback on the program. I have talked with Enrollment Counselor today so I have general idea about the program, but student feedback will be very helpful as well. What is your personal experience with WGU policy of pass/no pass grading? Just any feedback will be helpful!

Considering applying myself .....their 2/1 cohort is locked in so hoping for the fall ....

I'm sorry I haven't been on this site in a while, just now seeking these comments. I'm graduating in 3 weeks and would be happy to answer any questions you guys have about the program!

Hello! Thank you for your input. Would you mind giving me some info? I was wondering where are the clinical sites? My enrollment counselor just says Daytona. How was the program over all? Would you recommend? Are the clinical sites welcoming? How early did you actually find out what days you would be assigned at clinicals? Again thank you!

Hey there! If the clinical sites haven't changed, the Daytona Beach FL cohort uses Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center for the majority of clinical rotations and labs. This facility and staff were INCREDIBLY welcoming, professional, and provided an amazing learning environment. Best part of is that you are placed with one nurse who you complete all of you hours with for each rotation, and you're ONE-on-ONE! We typically found out what days we were scheduled a few weeks before beginning the rotation. Best of luck! let me know if I can answer any other questions!

Hi dsjones, did you start the program in Florida? I just got accepted and wanted a heads up or pointers on what to expect with the coursework, in person labs, clinical, commute etc. Any info will help :)
