  1. Montgomery, Alabama new grad ASN $20.7 (Having BSN wouldn't make any difference). I think Alabama in general pay nurses the worst. COL is of course low compared to other cities.
  2. I graduated on December of 2018, and started working on med-surg/onc unit on March. So I'm about 6 months in and it finally hit me yesterday that I am physically and emotionally drained. I know myself. I know I need a break here and there. So I knew 6 months would be a good time to take a break. So I requested to use two PTO (in 2 months advance as per policy) so I can get about 5 days off in a row. But it got rejected. So I encouraged myself to keep going and told myself maybe another time. I was always warned about nurse burnout. But it came without warning for me. Well.. now that I think about it, I think my body was telling me but I was just ignoring it. I promised myself I won't cry in nursing school and never as a nurse. I told people my job is going great, it's hard but I can do it. Saying this out loud felt like it really was okay. But once in awhile when I get really stressful days my period starts, or spotting. And one day during morning report, I got really dizzy and pale, my BP was 80/60. But I felt better so I decided to stay and work. Now that I think about it I think my body was telling me to take a break...but my manger is telling me otherwise. I have been crying past two days at home, emotionally and physically exhausted. I didn't feel like this even two weeks ago. I wish I am back to myself again. I am not suicidal or anything, but I kind of wished I would get in a minor car accident so I could take couple days off..
  3. I wish I can get in touch with my school and ask but they are closed due to Winter break. I'm even considering waiting until next month to talk to my teachers. My school is accredited through ACEN and NLNAC, so I even went to their website to see their clinical hour criteria. But I couldn't find exact hours. You can only apply for NCLEX application one state at a time right? Thank you for answering!
  4. Hello. I finally finished my ASN degree last week! I'm getting ready to register for NCLEX in Virginia. I currently live in Alabama but plan to move and take my NCLEX in Virginia. The requirement for NCLEX by examination in Virginia is minimum of 500 hours of direct clinical hours which I might not have. I can't contact the school because they are closed until January. And I called the BON in Virginia telling about my situation and they said to just complete the online application and they will email the result and instructions then. I would like to know what documents they might need before I submit my application. I'm afraid I might get rejected and delay taking my NCLEX... Does anyone know what happens if you don't meet the minimum amount of clinical hours? And what possible documentations they might need? Has anyone been in my shoes?! Help! Thank you! Gloria
  5. I am not a good writer so I hesitated for long time. But I thought it was time to thank allnurses and share my story. I graduated from University of Florida in 2014 with a Sociology major. In hope to apply for Accelerated BSN, I finished all of my nursing prerequisites before I graduated. I applied close to 10 schools in state and out of state and I DID NOT GET INTO ANY. It was a detrimental time for me mentally and physically. Pressure from friends and family has made the journey even more stressful than it already was. Due to the pressure, I decided to enroll in LPN program in hope to start working as early as possible. LPN program WAS NOT easy as I thought. And there are no programs to bridge over LPN-RN. I was still young and my parents were still willing to support me so I dropped LPN program to apply for RN programs. But this time, I applied to ABSN, BSN, and ASN. I also retook some of my prerequisites and worked as a CNA at LTC to build resume. Following year, I was accepted to one of ASN program and moved to Alabama. And now, I have survived 3 semesters of nursing school and I am looking forward to graduating this year! I joined allnurses in the most desperate time after I was rejected from multiple schools. Reading articles from allnurses gave me encouragement and courage to keep trying. And I did. I still have a long way but I never regret that I kept standing up from my failure. There were times when I just wanted to give everything up and become invisible. But I never knew I was this strong and capable until I gave myself a chance. Don't give up. If I can do it, you can too.
  6. WOW so nice to hear your feedbacks! I am considering to apply for August 2016 cohort. How do you guys like the program so far now that you guys might be in the clinical portion. I really wish you guys the best! Keep going!
  7. Hi. I am interested in WGU BSN (pre-licensure) program in Florida. This thread was about 2 years ago. So I am guessing you have already started or close to being finished. I would love to know your personal feedback on the program. I have talked with Enrollment Counselor today so I have general idea about the program, but student feedback will be very helpful as well. What is your personal experience with WGU policy of pass/no pass grading? Just any feedback will be helpful!
