U.S.A. Washington

Anyone applying to the UW SoN for fall 2013? Anyone else FREAKING OUT about it like I am?

They updated the blog today: 2013 Admission Notification letters-- Applicants should be receiving written notification of admission status no later than April 15, 2013.

So...does that mean they're done reviewing?! Prob not but a girl can dream right?! :D

Who knows but I am getting antsy. I had, yet another, dream last night about getting in. My dream wasn't particular as to where I got in but it was somewhere. I just hope it's at the UW. So close to home :x3:

Tell me about it! I'm stalking my mailbox like an undercover FBI agent, it's getting ridiculous! Why torture us and make us wait for snail mail? Not to mention if you already know, what's the point of waiting until mid April?! O_o wasn't that essay with 280 people in the same room enough? ;)

I just got into university of Portland yesterday, but I'm going to hold out and see what SU and UW have to say. I would have to take a few more humanities and theology classes if I decided on Portland.

Congrats on getting into Portland, hopefully we'll hear soon!

Yay, congrats! Must feel awesome to be over such a serious hurdle. Good luck with the rest, I hope you get to the school you most wish for.

Hi Abalone, thanks for posting your Fall quarter schedule (on Feb 24) so we know what to expect. I'm assuming NCLIN 306 is clinicals and you do that at a local hospital - is that right? I was wondering if you are always at the same hospital each week? Does it vary quarter to quarter? And do they assign you a hospital or can you give them your preferences?

Thanks!

You're right, NCLIN 306 includes both nursing lab and clinical. The lab portion is done at school and then you have one day a week on a med-Surg floor. Each qtr you are assigned a clinical site and you stay at that hospital all qtr but then it will most likely change the following qtr. I was lucky enough to stay at Harborview for both Fall and Winter qtr but most people changed. The first year you will do 2 med-Surg rotations and 1 qtr at children's hospital. You won't get a preference on hospitals until your senior practicum.

Thanks, ArmyNurse68. Are the hospitals they assign you to in (or near) Seattle? I remember from an info session that some of the clinical sites are well outside Seattle and require advanced planning re: transportation.

I probably shouldn't worry about this now because I may not be accepted! But I'm a planner so I like to get it all organized ;)

Mostly hospitals in the Seattle vicinity, with Evergreen being the furthest distance. I thing during the community health/psych rotation you might end up as far as Everett or Tacoma but its only that one qtr, I believe. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Did anyone get an email from UW today saying to set up a UW NetID. Well I don't know why we should do that if the school of nursing haven't accepted us yet. I am patiently waiting for a reply from the school of nursing. I can't sleep, eat or take a shower. Just checking my mail box everyday. Hope this is over soon. 3 or 4 more weeks to know.

I did get an email about setting up UW account too, but I don't think it means we've been accepted into the SON, just means accepted to UW, which you should of received a letter in the mail from by now (at least I did a few weeks but I applied to UW before the SON, like the application said to) man I wish that meant acceptance into SON, it would be nice to have good news today lol!
