I didn't see any thread for Seattle U BSN transfer program fall 2013. Lets see if anybody else applied other than me lol..

I didn't get anything from SPU either. It'll probably be tomorrow. I did, however, get an acceptance letter from UW. Shocked! :)

Hi Ladybug031302

Could you share with us your Pre-GPA and any health related experience? Congrats!

Congratulations!!! That is so wonderful! Are you going to go to the UW or would you rather attend SPU or SU?

Nursing pre-req GPA 3.7 (microbiology brought this down)

Overall 3.91

I'm a NAC (w/ Pharmacy Assistant license too) at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. I've also volunteered for over 10 years with a nonprofit that supports families enduring the loss of a baby during pregnancy or shortly after birth.

I also used my volunteer work with my kids' schools and activities on my UW 'resume'. I was the board fundraising chair and auction chair for my kids' preschool ( which is a nonprofit through SSCC). I have coached youth sports through the YMCA.

In addition, I have over 10 years working in various areas of business and used my managerial roles in the leadership and training categories.

Not sure! Should I get accepted to SU also, it will be a tough choice. UW has such a national reputation but SeattleU has kind of won my heart. We will see. SPU is my last choice. This is such an agonizing process. As happy as I am to get accepted, it comes with sadness as my good friend who's been doing this pre-nursing stuff with me did not get a UW acceptance :(

SU is my first choice, although had I been accepted at UW I would have gone there just because of cost. I guess a good way to look at it is now I don't have to agonize over that decision! I am sorry your friend didn't get it. :(

I dont understand why you guys pick SU over UW when you got accepted to UW Nursing ? UW is a popular school and besides the tuition is much cheaper. I didn't apply to UW cause I think I am not qualified. I'm still waiting for SU's decision. I kinda hope people who got accepted to UW will go to UW so people like me have more chance to go to SU.

I think that if you have a good feeling, you should listen to it. While UW is popular and cheaper, it doesn't necessarily mean that it should be #1 choice. There are so many other things about nursing that weigh in. A lot of what the UW does is research-based. I appreciate the community/cultural diversity focus of SU. Sure, it will be more expensive, but it's also a lot closer for me and when you have kids (I do), that time matters. I qualify for tuition assistance, financial aid and my parents are also willing to help out. So, it's not really about the money. Besides, if I go to SU where someone else can't afford to apply, then I leave a spot at (cheaper) UW for someone who needs that aspect! For me, it's about what program feels the best for each person and fits with their goals. I have worked my butt off the last 4 years (working, [responsible/actively involed] parenting, volunteering AND school) and I want to choose my program wisely. I am proud of what I have accomplished. Even if I am accepted at SU and choose that program, it's nice to know that I cut the mustard at UW.

You are right. Congratulations! :)

I have friends both in UW and Seattle U's nursing programs. Both programs are equally good. Only thing Seattle U is more expensive. But whatever u pick u will good education!!

Hi there. I am a current SPU transfer nursing student and I just wanted to post to say congrats lady bug! SPU's nursing program has been really good to me so far, however I can see how SPU's reputation might deter some students. It should NOT, because the nursing program is, in a way, separate, from the rest of the school. Everyone who has applied to SPU should think about taking a tour of the program and/or talking to the faculty if you haven't already. Also, take into consideration curriculum. There are things that I like and don't like about the course curriculum/transfer curriculum that I wish I had known before hand.

Goodluck to everyone!! Hope you all find out soon:)
