I was just wondering if anyone out there applied for Seattle U's APNI program. I thought I'd start a thread because it doesn't look like there is one, yet.
I think we're supposed to hear about interviews sometime soon. Has anyone gotten word, yet?

So, how did your interviews go? I have received an invite but have not been scheduled an interview time yet. When I applied to the program in December I was leaning towards FNP, but am now thinking after some exposure the PMHNP would be a better fit. So interesting and personal, to help someone lead a fuller and happier life. Sounds awesome to me! Any of you going into the PMHNP had an interview yet or only the FNP's?
I had an interview for FNP. It went really well! The two ladies who interviewed me were very nice and made me feel very comfortable. The questions were also not that bad. Just make sure that you are aware of the nursing school's mission and vision statements and you'll be fine. Good luck!!
Glad to hear your interview went well! I can't wait to get my actual interview time, so excited! Did you want to be a general FNP or do you have a particular specialty in mind?
General FNP, though the pediatric population is close to my heart :)
Cool Beans! I was hoping to work with the young adolescent population (family) side of mental health. I think I read on the other threads that you work in community health, is that mostly with children then?
That's a great population to work with! There are so many that need psychological help, but do not have access. I work in public health - chronic disease prevention - at a health department. Unfortunately, I don't get to work directly with kids (I used to when I did tobacco compliance checks). But I am involved in developing a child obesity prevention coalition in the community. What work do you do currently?
I currently am finishing up my BS this quarter in wildlife and fisheries science, and discovered my junior year that actually healthcare was my calling. I volunteer at the Hepatitis Education Project and work with homeless and dislocated populations that cannot afford to get screenings. I provide clinical and emotional support for those in need. It is very rewarding but like most healthcare settings can tug at the heartstrings quite a bit at times.

I was also invited to an interview but do not yet have a date or time. This was for the PMHNP specialty.
Thanks for the confirmation on that Amber lights, Whew! This is such a knots-all-in-the-stomach kind of time. I'll post when my interview time is once I know, maybe we'll see each other there around the same time at Seattle U. :)

I was extremely nervous, but I think I did alright!
I'm sure you did great, everyone is usually nervous. Kudos go to you! I think my interview is on Thursday but I am still getting the specifics.
