After I earn my BSN in Arizona, I am going to move to seattle. Is there anything i need to do to transfer my license or is it universal across the US?

You have to apply. Sorry!

Thanks. How do i apply? With WA bursing board? Do i have to take nclex again?

No, no NCLEX. You apply though the WA state licensing dept.:)

You apply through the WA state DOL-Nursing Commission :

You will have to either demonstrate AIDS training, or you may need to take the training.

I just completed this process in february for my move out there in MAY! That linknursej22 sent you is what i used. Nursys is easy to use too. Fill out the form and mail it in. They took about a week or so to mail back a responce (however im coming from MA so you'll probably hear back faster being closer). The hardest part was getting fingerprinted. I had to do mine twice because somethign smudged? Anyway I called with questions and they were really helpful. They give you a temporary permit while the prints are being scanned. Also if your prints fail to be read twice they just run a CORI on you and then approve your new licence. In WA you have to renew every year on your birthday (gross) so be prepared for that, I got mine in february this year and guess what, i have to renew it this year! So that's somethign to keep in mind but they will send you a notice in the mail to alert you ahead of time.

as for the aids training if youve just graduated you've had it, i want to say all programs now provide aids training and that part of the doccument is mostly for older nurses/nurses from old programs

Hi SheriffLauren!

I just submitted my fingerprints to DOH-WA yesterday! do you know how long it took for them to send you a temporary license? Or did you have to call and request for one?

Thanks! :)

2 weeks. I called to check into what was going too. They were really nice and answered all my questions.

Hi there; I have moved from Hawaii to WA state. HI is non-nursy. I printed the non-nursy endorsement form to send to my HI BON granting permission to send verification of my RN to WA. That was two weeks ago. When does the fingerprinting part come in?

As for AIDS training; it's if you graduated in 95' or better, you don't have to take the instruction...it was in your program at school.

Correction; AIDS training only if graduated before 1991 :)

I also see that if I have a WA state address I don't need to have the fingerprints done? I don't know if I am reading that right but I will call the DOH to verify. I am through endorsement.

Ashely037...You can graduate from the university, but that isn't a license to practice. You must sign up for the boards (and pass), and if you're moving to WA anyway; save yourself a lot of trouble and take the boards in WA. The state where you take your boards is the state you will be licensed in. Why go through the endorsement process if you don't have to? The boards are the exact same in each state.

If you already have your RN license than you have to endorse it to WA. Go to the link nursej22 posted; it's all there. The only thing you have to determine is if your state is a nursys state or not, and follow direction. :)
