Georgetown ABSN Spring 2014

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

Hi everyone!

I submitted my application for Georgetown's ABSN program. Has anyone else applied?

Clairefromsandiego, that is all very cool -except your fractured foot! How is the healing going? That is a health-related project right there. Taking care of your own fracture (do you have access to health care practitioners and clinics while you are there?)

The Peace Corps is a cool endeavor. The experience you are getting will set you apart from other applicants when you start applying to schools.

I've heard that it could be late Oct to early Nov for admissions decisions from Georgetown. Eek. It's my first choice school but with only 20 spots available, it's necessary to have a back up. So I'll be feeling stuck between a rock and a hard place if we don't find out by Friday. Anyway, I understood that the decisions would be released by the end of this week. The other school I'd be going to if I didn't get in would be Rutgers University. They want their deposit no later than Oct 23 since they do rolling admissions and I was accepted in the first wave. With only 20 spots in the Georgetown program it's necessary to have a back up but I didn't realize Rutgers wouldn't give me more time. That's what I get for applying way before the deadline!

The fact that they only have 20 spots makes me nervous.

I hope we don't have to wait until early November...that sounds like agony. Where did you hear late October to early November? I have the application guide (which might be dated since I printed it out about 6 months ago) and it says they issue decisions for Spring cohorts in early October.

That is great you have secured a backup. Hopefully we will hear back from GU before the 23rd.

Haha, thanks. Yeah, thankfully in Jordan we have pretty easy access to health care (not that it makes them figure out the problem any faster!). And since I don't have any health experience, I do hope Peace Corps gives my eventual application a boost!

Oh man, I hope you guys don't have to wait until November to hear! That seems not only nerve-wracking, but like it's going to give you serious problems with decisions at other schools.

I am getting heart palpitations waiting for this. I would like to know either way at this point. It makes me so anxious. I check this board like every day to see if anyone has heard anything. Please post if you do! I actually don't know maybe that might make me more nervous if I have not heard anything.

I thought the webinar was extrememely helpful. People asked alot of good questions. I wish it were longer so I could pick their brains some more. I had so many questions. I wonder how large the applicant pool is... In any case, good luck to everyone!

Ashvanam - I visited the campus back in March and met with Laura Adams for a tour. At that point she said it'd be late October/early November. It's been many months since then but it's looking like that will be the case. Hopefully we will hear decisions in the next few days.

If Laura Adams told you that on the tour that is probably accurate! I wish they lowered our expectations of how soon we will hear their decisions -say if they told us November, but surprised us all by actually releasing them in October. I could better deal with that.

For some reason I am certain they are going to email decisions on a Friday late afternoon/ evening so I am hoping for tomorrow. Fingers crossed! Lolasan I'm getting heart palpitations too! And I check my email obsessively. One gets so invested during the application process.

I thought I was the only one who check every 2 seconds. I am getting the same feeling as well. I do not think I can go another week without knowing. There was another webinar scheduled this past Tuesday. So my guess would be there were only 2 unless there is another wave. I wonder why it takes so long. The apps were in 8/1 and that is about 2 months. LOL. I guess it would depend on the colume applications and their resources. In any case, fingers crossed for tomorrow!!!

Please let today be the day. Fingers crossed.

I hear ya. I've never looked at my email this much. I just keep hitting update now on my phone!

I am trying to remain patient thorugh this whole ordeal. Why did you all apply to GU?

I had a few friends that went to Georgetown for their undergrad and then stayed in the neighborhood. I visited a lot so I suppose it was exposure. Every time I stepped foot onto campus I just knew that it was the school for me. Overall, their nursing program has everything I want in my education.
