We visited the Oceanarium about 6 weeks ago and I am so saddened to see it destroyed and some of the dolphins and sealions missing in the Gulf of Mexico. Our visit was part of our 'perfect' vacation and because of our positive experience I just try to make people aware of their situation. We had such a good time and some of the dolphins tossed balls at us and played with us. They were so cute and the shows were so great. I will donate money so that it can be rebuild and the surviving animals can be cared for.

Thank you guys for taking the time to look at their website.

Sorry but none of the dolphins or sea lions are missing. The sea lions went home with the chief vet and made it thru Katrina just fine. Three of the dolphins went to a Best Western pool and the other three went to a Holiday Inn pool. And all were doing well after Katrina.

Grannynurse, you didn't click on the link and look at the website. In the meantime the dolphins who were swept out into the gulf have been rescued. It's an amazing story and the picutures are heartwarming....thanks to all the wonderful people nvolved in the rescue mission, the dolphins are now finally safely back together. It's amazing that they all survived after being washed out by the storm surge. The tank was pretty large and tall. We had to climb some stairs to get up to see in.

Have a good day :)

the dolphins where kept in a swiming pool in biloxi, they are safe however the some of the sea lions did not make it sorry to say even though the site says they did.

They evacuated some sealions but not all before the storm hit and of those left behind 5 died and some were missing along with the washed out dolphins...The very first article a couple of weeks back, right after they were able to get back online, talks about it which is now in the archives. If you click on 'more news' you will see the headline ' 'Marine Life Oceanarium destroyed by Hurricane Katrina' I've been e-mailing back and forth with Mrs. Elisa da Silva from the Institute For Marine Mammal Studies and she has kept me updated on things.

BTW, nice to meet you and have a great weekend :)
