Bio 142 is easier than 141 but it is not an easy class. It is easier then 141 because you already know how to study for an anatomy class and the systems are more interesting ( to me). However there is only 2 practicals so there are fewer chances to mess up and redeem yourself. Right now I am taking Bio 142, Eng 112, and nursing math and I feel that my schedule is not bad. LoLa, Actually yes, it does! I just kinda want to get people opinions, but then again its hard to determine with people's lifestyles & study habits :-)

I need to take either micro or A&P2 this summer in order to apply in Sept. Then I figured I'll catchup on the remaining bio class after I apply.

142 is just as difficult as 141 at the Va Beach campus. Some students took 141 at other campuses and received A's and are struggling with C's in 142. I took Micro during the summer and got an A, but I had the same teacher for lecture and lab. It was easier for me because every thing was distinctly different and I did not have 20 things to know about one specimen. You know yourself the best and imagine your 141 material crammed into 10 weeks. GPA is important to get in. I am starting this fall. Good luck

I know this is an old tread but is there anyone out there applying before the May 15th deadline?

I would also like to know if any one is applying to the LPN to RN Bridge program or if there is anyone who is going through it now. If you are going through the bridge program now did you feel adequately prepared when you joined the 2nd year RN students. I have been an LPN for 3 years and I am nervous that I do not remember enough to be a strong RN student!!

I applied for the May 2011 deadline!! Hope you get in! I'm really nervous I just want to be closer to being done! I will do the bridge program once I have the associate but not too sure where yet! If you hear anything (like a school better then the other) Let me know! Still new to the area!

I applied on Feb 2011 and just received the letter saying I did not get admission (:. I have 3.21 GPA with ENG11 A, BIO 150 C, BIO 141 A, BIO 142 B, PSY 201 B, SDV 101 A. They did not provide the reason but I think its because of BIO 150 has C.

Anyone has advise for me? Do I have chance to get admission in other college in universities in Hampton Roads? I'm kind of new to the area so don't know much about college and universities here.

I did not get admission either :-( I applied with a 4.0 but in a previous college I did fail 141. Even though I retook it and got an A they still held that grade against me. therefore I did not get accepted.. could be the only reason. I'd say to retake any class that you got a below a B in. They go on the point system and only take the four classes so your points would have been 12 points out of 16. I was also told that for late admission (deadline being may) the lowest gpa they will take is a 3.6 I say try to apply again but look at other options I've heard NSU doesn't have a cap on their program, and basically have the same prereqs as TCC (I am going to apply to tcc, nsu and sentara this time around!) I also didn't get accepted. Overall GPA of 3.1 something. Pre requisite GPA of 3.8+. The only pre reqs that I didn't get A's in were Eng 111 and Intro to Psych. I got B's for those two in the mid 90's. I've emailed the interim director four times now to get a face to face meeting without success. From what I can gather they just looked at overall GPA and threw out everyone less then a 3.4. The points system doesn't seem to hold water. I got a 15/16 and know of at least 3 students with lower points, but higher GPA's that got in. I get an A in micro, a&p 1-2 but someone with a higher GPA and C's in the science courses gets in? Doesn't make sense to me.

When I got my denied letter I was not happy. After thinking it over and replaying all of the snippy emails and condescending phone calls I had to endure from the administration, I can't say I'm really angry anymore about not getting accepted. I'm now more angry about how unprofessional the administration has acted and continues to act. The only thing I'm trying to decide now is how hard to shake the tree.

On another note I went to an information session for Sentara's BSN program and couldn't believe the difference in attitude. Everyone actually seemed.....happy. More then willing to answer questions, review transcripts, etc. Of course there are more pre reqs, and it costs more money then TCC... but you come out of it with your BSN.

With sentara, I don't think they are accredited by the nursing association that most bsn and msn programs are accredited by. So as far as moving forward with a msn degree, schools may not accept sentaras credits.

I have heard that the Sentara BSN program is not accredited however that is due to it is a new program and they need to have a few graduating classes first. Their RN diploma program was accredited so I don't think getting accreditation for the BSN program will be a problem for them. I guess only time will tell though. That question was answered during the information session. The director stated that the BSN is accepted by ODU but after you meet the additional chem req. Sentara's program requires Chem 1 while ODU requires chem 1 & 2. So essentially you would have to take chem 2 before enrolling in a Master's program. Of course I haven't verified this with ODU yet so take that information with a grain of salt.

I have taken both classes not togetherm but last summer there was a girl taking both, god bless her and you. You should be okay if you have nothing much else going on and can commit to the workload, 141 is more strenous than bio 150. Good luck I work full time and have small children and ate sleep breathed AP it seemed like, you will be in the lab a lot too.
