Pay range for new grads...

U.S.A. Utah

Published

Hello all,

I may be moving back to Utah after nursing school. What is the starting pay for new grad RN's there? I'd like to stick to the SLC area, probably looking into UofU or LDS hospitals. For any that work at SLC, how do they treat new grads? Any advice? Thanks!

I made some phone calls to various HR offices, here's what I found out...

IHC pays $21.80/hr for new RN grads. University Hospital only pays $21.00/hr, and Davis Hospital in Layton (IASIS healthcare) also starts at $21.00/hr. Mountainstar said they couldn't divulge starting wages over the phone, but that they're competitive with IHC.

Thanks for passing along the info! Good thing to know. If you don't mind me asking, what school will you be attending?

I'll be attending the DATC lpn-to-rn program in Kaysville, Utah. Basically, you're taught for four semesters at DATC, but receive an Associate's from Weber State University. It starts in August and then goes for four semesters solid, even during the summer.

Just returned from a travel assignment in Utah. I worked between 3 hospitals. New grad pay was $16-18/hour. With 33 years experience I got $22/hour plus housing. Utah doesn't pay great. A friend of a co-worker there went to LA for a week and made more in 36 hours than a month in SLC area. Good Luck.

I have 33 years experience and made $20.12 per hour and $12.33 stipend on my $37.62 or more in DC area.

Sorry, got distracted by phone. Last post isn't right

I have 33 years experience and did a travel assignment in SLC this summer. My Base was $20.12 an hour with a stipend of $12.33 an hour capped at 36hours/week. That is way less than my staff rate of $37.62 an hour in the DC area.

Looks like I'm moving when i graduate, haha. Seriously, I'm not going to settle for $18/hr when I know that other states are starting near $30/hr.

Big concern for me as well. Depending on how my husband's job is doing by the time I'm ready to enter the workforce, I may consider at different state as well. I like Utah a lot, but didn't grow up here so I'm not particularly attached to it. There's so much to factor in though when considering moving based on salary.

The base pay for the U of U hospital for a new graduate is $21.00
