Hello all,
I may be moving back to Utah after nursing school. What is the starting pay for new grad RN's there? I'd like to stick to the SLC area, probably looking into UofU or LDS hospitals. For any that work at SLC, how do they treat new grads? Any advice? Thanks!

Just returned from a travel assignment in Utah. I worked between 3 hospitals. New grad pay was $16-18/hour. With 33 years experience I got $22/hour plus housing. Utah doesn't pay great. A friend of a co-worker there went to LA for a week and made more in 36 hours than a month in SLC area. Good Luck.
Big concern for me as well. Depending on how my husband's job is doing by the time I'm ready to enter the workforce, I may consider at different state as well. I like Utah a lot, but didn't grow up here so I'm not particularly attached to it. There's so much to factor in though when considering moving based on salary.

I made some phone calls to various HR offices, here's what I found out...
IHC pays $21.80/hr for new RN grads. University Hospital only pays $21.00/hr, and Davis Hospital in Layton (IASIS healthcare) also starts at $21.00/hr. Mountainstar said they couldn't divulge starting wages over the phone, but that they're competitive with IHC.
