Haha, kcdunlap! For all the "holy fits" I have thrown this past 13 months while a student at UT Arlington, what has that accomplished me? Not a whole lot.

Seemingly ridiculous grades for assignments I thought were great? Shut down.

Class descriptions that don't mention prerequisites and result in being bumped and losing six weeks- Uh, yeah, no exceptions even though I had been registered and paid for weeks AND my counselor didn't catch it even though I had asked her to look at my registration. As a bonus, no admittance to a replacement class since it was "too late."

I did throw one fit that changed something- followed the chain of command after I had had enough of my counselor being the opposite of helpful. I was assigned a new counselor when I spoke to their boss with my complaints. She was a consummate customer service professional and admitted to no failure in their system or staff- that was lame, but I got what I needed her to give me- which was a new staff person to work with.

This is my last week in the research course. Sometimes it can be a pain waiting for other group members to do their part or wait for a response for an assignment. I'm so glad it's almost over with this class. I'd rather do the assignments individually. This fall I'll be taking an elective co-op class, vulnerable populations, capstone, and govt. I haven't had any other problems with the program. I'm just ready to finish the program.

Mercury i agree with you on the grading of assignments that were great being graded badly, i complained about the advisor to no end and didnt she end up being the advisor in my next class! smh

If you want an education and not just a quick and easy program, go somewhere else with academic rigor. You will get a degree but not much else.

I am interested in this program as well. How do you guys like it so far? I have a couple of questions for anyone who can answer them, I know I should ask the advisor, but I can't seem to get ahold of them at the moment.

1. Someone told me you need to be an RN for a year before you can get into the program. I told them they were crazy, I haven't read this anywhere, any ideas?

2. Do they accept most applicants, I am going to apply, but I don't want to take the Intro to Nursing, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology courses and then be waitlisted for 6 months.

3. On the website it says the program cannot be completed in less than 13 months. I figured if you have all your general education courses done and doubled up on classes you would be able to do it, any input?

Thanks to anyone who can take the time to help me out.

1. Not in my experience - I had less than a year experience.

2. Pulse and a check book

3. I could have done it in less than 13 months, with a previous bachelor's and some upper division nursing electives - but they coded my transcript oddly, and getting it fixed caused me to graduate in 14 months after taking 6 months off. Some of it has to do with when courses are offered, too.

I am not sure what the 13 month thing is all about. Never heard that before and I hope it is not true. I plan on finishing in May '13 and I started in July of '12. So technically 10 months. However, with all the gen ed course it will end up a total of 48 credits in 10 months....busy for sure.

The 13 month thing applies if you take 1 class every 5 weeks and need the nursing elective courses. I have been enrolled in the RN-BSN program since July of 2012 and will finish in April of 2013. I've been doubling up on courses every semester, it's been tough, but I'll be glad I did it that way once I'm finished.

It took me more than 13 months because I wasn't given the entire schedule of the course load (the order of classes to take). I had a big gap of having nothing to do. It would've taken me 13 months though... I didn't even have to take any nursing electives.

I know that this thread is old, but I wanted to chime in anyway. It seems like everything that everyone said is true about the program. For anyone applying in the future, they lost my transcripts several times. The first time, they lost ALL 6 of them. I had to have the schools send me the official transcripts, put them in a manila envelope and certify it make sure someone will sign for it. Sure enough, they lost my transcript again after I took a class at a local community college. So I was prepared, I ordered two transcript and sent off the second copy certified. My adviser is useless. She does return my phone calls, but she's not helpful at all. By, far the toughest class for me is that Holistic Assessment course. Just ridiculous. I'm almost done and I'm glad. It wasn't the worst experience, but you need to be resourceful. I felt that I was on my own and not apart of an actual university, but I was motivated because in this part of the country where I live, you need that BSN. Anyway, to all future and current students, GOOD LUCK!
