Fall 2014- Traditional BSN

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I was just accepted to UTA as a student and just filled out the application for the traditional BSN program. I'm kind of worried that my stats might not be so great and wanted to see if anyone else has applied?

3.5 Science GPA

3.66 Overall

92 HESI

I am not partnered and I hadn't heard about that before I was on this site. I work full time in a non healthcare field.

I still need to take the three prerequisite classes (Pharmacology, Pathophysiologic Processes, Intro to Professional Nursing) at UTA, as well as Technical Writing, American History I, Texas Government, and College Algebra which should raise my overall GPA.

Any advice/ anyone else applying for Fall 2014?

No I've applied to twu-Houston and got accepted also but uta is my priority choice, so I'm gonna wait it out because I don't want to relocate unless I really I have to

So, what are you guys' plans as of now? I'm in my last 4 pre-reqs right now, and I would re-take a science or two this summer, but they wouldn't count for the Spring application... I don't know what to do :(

hi all, what is called "partnership" you guy are talking about in this forum?

I have my science 3.75

GPA for overall 3.84

NO previous Bachelor degree, no partnership ( which I do not know what is it about )

I am gonna take intro nursing for summer II.

The problem in here is I am not sure that I will got accepted or not ... In case not accepted by UTA, it will be a wasted time and money for Intro Nursing class ... the tuition for UTA is more higher than college ...

They do not give us the specific date to announce for acceptance or decline, right?

Which semester are you applying for? You would need to take Intro to Nursing ahead of time because you cannot start the program (if you're accepted) if you haven't completed that class. It's VERY EASY.

And 'partnership' means that you are employed at one of the UTA partnered hospitals. If you are applying to the online BSN program, you are much more likely to get accepted if you are already employed with one of those hospitals, as those applicants (employees) are considered first, and remaining spots (if any) are given to those that are not partnered.

Those that were accepted, could you tell us when your accept/decline letter is due? That way us waitlisters might have an idea of when they'll start making calls. :)

It was due 4/21.

Thank you for your responding utabsnhopeful !

I apply for FALL 2014, I am gonna take Intro Nursing class this summer 2. So for the partnership how can I apply ? even I don't have any experience in health care filed? And how I can look for the hospitals which partnered with UTA?

Ok, so you've already applied, then?.. If you got accepted (or wait listed) then yeah you definitely need to take Intro this summer because they aren't going to let you start the program if you haven't completed it...

And the fact that it was due last week makes me feel like wait listed people might start getting calls soon! I hate that we don't know if we have a reasonable shot at getting called up or not, :(

The assistant dean told me at the information meeting that the first calls would be made in early May... but you never know with UTA. Everything is so vague! Good luck to us all!!

In the meantime, though, I am trying to research other options... It's all very overwhelming.

@utabsnhopeful,

Did they say how many applicants there were this time at the info session?

These are the numbers:

On-Campus: 462 applicants, 419 qualified, 344 ranked

Off-Campus: 510 applicants, 458 qualified, 334 ranked

--from the Assistant Dean

Also, the program accepted 140 students (I know for sure for traditional, not positive for AP) this time rather than the normal 120. The top 140 people were taken from the 'ranked' categories... so I guess that means there's 200 of us waitlisted. LOL yay.
