College Algebra 08/19

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

I can't believe that on top of the $500 plus course, $175 text books, I have to pay to have my test and final exam proctored and have to go out and buy a web cam! I really wish this would have been passed on to me as I would have not even enrolled in UTA. I suck at math and was not looking to spend this awful amount of money to hopefully pass Algebra. I'm hoping the video lectures show me step by step how to work out the problems or I am in trouble. Might have to transfer to Texas Tech, they don't even require Algebra.

I bought the book, but it does not even help with any steps. All the homework and tests are online on a Prentice Hall program that I think the key comes with your text in order for you to sign in. There are a lot of homework, so you should be prepared to spend the week going through each section. If you like to move ahead, you can. It also counts down how many days/ hours you have left to complete each course.

Got D+ on 2 tests and totally failed 1, average B+ on quizzes and A on homework and did signature assignments. Do they care about the other stuff (homework and quizzes) if tests are horrible? haven't taken the final yet. I'm just wondering if any of it will count seeing how I struggled with the tests

I totally bypassed uta and took math 1302 online for 8 weeks at community college. It cost me about 200 for the class and the book (book + math lab) was around 150. No proctored tests. I got my co-worker's kid who is studying to be an engineer to tutor me for $200 (and a meal) for 4 sessions in which he would help me with things I found difficult, totally worth it. Cost me 550, less than uta and I got a B.

sbfairy where did you take it? I have been looking for an online college with no luck.

Thanks

Where did you take it?

Hey MissyRN. I took Math 1302 at Brookhaven Community College in Farmer's Branch. It's totally online and pretty inexpensive. I'm pretty sure they offer 4 and 8 week classes and semester long classes as well. If you live in Dallas/Fort Worth or surrounding areas I think there are a few other community colleges in the area that offer it online as well.

I live in Chicago, would they let me take it, also what instructor did you use. In a few of the course listings it says it requires two proctored exams.

Thanks for your help I have attempted UTA algebra and it's impossible.
