New Grad.. Now what?

Specialties Travel

Published

Hi, I am a newly graduated RN preparing to take my boards in a couple of weeks. My short term goal is to become a travel nurse for maybe 5 to 10 years, while I am young. I am interested in Oncology nursing, specifically. I also enjoy every field! Just wondering what steps I should take to start travelling? I would love to work for a couple of years in a specialty, then get with an agency. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or advice on how this process goes. Thanks, in advance :)

Just that, work for a couple years in a specialty, then travel! That is the process in a nutshell. There is nothing more you need to know now, and the fine details and agencies involved may be different in several years.

Specializes in kids.

Congrats on graduating...just be careful not to call yourself an RN until you have your license (because you took and PASSED your boards) in hand.....Good Luck on the exam!!!

Specializes in CCU, SICU, CVSICU, Precepting & Teaching.

Congratulations on graduating; but as I'm sure you know, that doesn't make you an RN. Please don't call yourself one.

Also, you may want to rethink your avatar. There are good, solid reasons why this forum tends to be anonymous -- or as much so as possible. You're making it really easy for future bosses, co-workers and patients to identify you here.

Good points! Let me rephrase.. I have recently graduated with my BSN, soon to be RN. Thanks for the input!!
