Any advise would help! I have order a fingerprint from California BON three times over the past six weeks. There is a form to submit on their website. After each submission it says allow two weeks for delivery. Still no card!! I have tried calling the BON a dozen times. Every time it says we are having a large volume of calls, we can not accept your call. Try again later and then it disconnects. I am so frustrated. I want to take an assignment the first of the year so I wanted to getting everything settled early knowing it can take a while to get my license. Is anyone else having the same issue?Has any got a license by endorsement by using a fingerprint card from their home state?Thank you for any help you can offer.

call back! or keep looking on Nursys.com...I didn't get notification in the mail until about 2 weeks after my license was posted on the website.

Do the live scan!!!! It is near impossible to reach someone by phone. CA has cut back on state run programs which includes the BON. Used to be able to do a walk thru but they put a stop to that 'cause of dishonest people sliding thru. I think you can get cards from any law enforcement agency. But, do the live scan.

Does anyone know the current processing time? I am a Canadian nurse, endorsing from Minnesota. My documents were received on December 6, 2013. I did the livescan fingerprint in California... I try calling the board and just get a busy signal. I have sent several emails with no reply:(

It took me about 2 1/2 months to get my license in hand. I sent in fingerprint cards from my local police department with my application. I called them twice and actually spoke with someone. I applied in October and just got the actual license in hand the first week of January.

If your Livescan was successful, there must be some issue. Perhaps the Canadian thing. California can be a nuisance about transcripts and I'm sure the international thing may cause a road bump. Best time to call is between 4 and 5 pm West Coast Time on Wednesdays Thursdays, and Fridays. Call volume is 1,200 attempted calls per day, and only 400 to 600 get answered. So you will likely need multiple attempts.

Thanks for your help!!! I was beginning to think that they didn't have anyone working the phones! I believe the delay must be due to them having to verify my Canadian schooling is up to California standards... I'm am just hoping it only takes a couple months...

What are the course requirements? I'm looking at the endorsement application and it has a few courses listed for my school to provide my transcript information, but is there anything else? I hope it doesn't differ too greatly. I'll be registered with PA in about 2 months, but ultimately want to practice in CA.

the website says it no longer does the same day processing..... how long does it take to obtain a temp license how long is it good for and can u work a trasvel assignment with one

A temp license is accepted just like a permanent license in any state that issues one. In California, it is renewable until you receive your permanent one. If the stars align, it is possible to get a temp in as little as 48 hours if you do it in state. Refer to the board list on PanTravelers for the best way. Much of it was copied on the first page of this thread.

Hi! I'm also an RN from Alberta, passed my NCLEX and am waiting on my Visa screen... I'm hoping to work in California too. Are you working there now?? Are you with a travel company and which one if so? Did they help you get your SSN and TN visa? Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks :))

Hello Karen G,

As a traveler who is going through the CA endorsement process (my temporary CA RN lic # just appeared on their website Monday!!) I wanted to offer my encouragement and point out that this thread is over a year old :-)

Good luck with everything!
