  1. Thanks for your help!!! I was beginning to think that they didn't have anyone working the phones! I believe the delay must be due to them having to verify my Canadian schooling is up to California standards... I'm am just hoping it only takes a couple months...
  2. Does anyone know the current processing time? I am a Canadian nurse, endorsing from Minnesota. My documents were received on December 6, 2013. I did the livescan fingerprint in California... I try calling the board and just get a busy signal. I have sent several emails with no reply:(
  3. I am a RN from Alberta, I wrote my nclex and got licensed through minnesota (with no intention of ever working there). I did this so that I could go to California. I think the best way to do it is to sign with a travel company, they will help you get your work visa, and then from there you get a SSN easily... and then from there you send all of your paperwork to the California board of nursing and wait for your license... Unsure about the practicum hour requirements as i'm still waiting for my license.
  4. I am a Canadian RN Licensed in Alberta, Canada as well as in Minnesota. I wrote the NCLEX and passed on the first attempt with just 75 questions... only took me one hour to write it... I felt awful after the test & was sure that I had failed but I DIDN'T!!! YAY!!! So, I guess it wasn't that hard, I studied using the Kaplan study guide mostly, practice tests were the most helpful & really understanding the rationale to the answers. Then once I passed the test, and my Alberta license was sent to Minnesota along with my university transcripts I was sent my Minnesota license. THEN & you should start now if you want to travel soon, you need to submit all of the paperwork to CGFNS for your visa screen certification .... they are solo slow ( It took almost 2 months for them to finish and send me my visa screen). After you get the visa screen you can apply for jobs either through travel agencies (who are sketchy & cheap but WILL find you a job at least to get your feet wet to actually get the TN visa) or hospitals/private clinics. Because you NEED a job offer before you can get your TN visa. Basically you need to get a letter from the employer saying that you are fully qualified to work, then you bring it with you when you plan to move to the States and at the border crossing immigration issues your TN visa. Hope this helps!!!!
  5. Does anyone know if they have any Canadian nurses working at Cedars- I recently relocated to LA, I would love to work in NICU, Post-Partum, or neuro rehab. I have a couple of years experience in each, but no CA license... only licensed in Canada & in Minnesota. Any info would be great!
