UTMB Fall 2011 Applicants

Hi everyone! Just thought I'd start a thread for those who are applying to UTMB for Fall 2011. There are some really great (and long!) threads out there for Spring 2011 and earlier...but as I'm sure y'all know, the application process can change from cycle to cycle, plus it's just nice to have a new thread for us. :) So feel free to post questions, comments, or anything related to applications!

I'm applying as a second-degree student to UTMB, UTHSC, TWU (Houston), UT Arlington and A&M, plus maybe the new Texas State program. Whew! :eek: I keep hearing great things about UTMB so that might be my #1....

A question to start us off: so we can now use either the centralized NursingCAS application, or the application through UTMB, right? :uhoh3: What are you all going to do? I'm thinking of just doing UTMB's direct application....if you do NursingCAS, I think you'll have to do a supplemental UTMB application+fee anyway, so you might as well just do it all once...thoughts?

Who is to say we will get rejection letters? I am still keeping my hopes, and will project positive. It is just stressful, is all... I think it helps to remember we wont go our whole lives without word on their decisions, which means sometime soon we will find out! Atleast within the next 6 months :dncgbby:

Lol, you are right, have to stay positive!!!! hopefully within the next month!!!!! I don't about six months!!! :D

I was very upset and uptight, but no more. My patience had gone dry. I am totally ready to get rejection letter. Next week, i will start studing TEAS again. Will you guys study by yourself or have study group? I will love to join in.

I had my interview May 9 and called this past Tuesday to see my status and sadly, I did not get in. She said as of this past Tuesday 56 were interviewed within those past 2 Mondays and there were only 20 slots left... I just was not part of the 20. You can try calling and let her know your situation and she will tell you if you got accepted or not and if they have even looked at your interview.

hi everyone. i have been following this since march and i definitely feel everyone's pain.

first of all i just couldn't log into mystar anymore. and they had on file that they were missing a transcript for a school i never attended. then after all of that was apparently resolved i had an interview on may 9 after all of the waiting and still haven't heard anything back until today.

i called today and was put on hold. then someone else picked up and i was put on hold again. then the lady came back and said she couldn't find the list of applicants but that she COULD tell me that if i haven't received a rejection letter in the mail by the end of this week then i'm still being considered. at this point it's almost too late for me to register for classes this summer--i was planning to bring my GPA up if it was a main proponent of me not getting in. now i fear it's too late and i may not even get in. it's been really hard but i hope all of the waiting is worth it and we get in! good luck to everyone :)

I'm sorry to hear that princess122, but don't worry better opportunities will come your way. I gave up already, my interview was on the 9th as well.. part of me wants to keep the hope, but the other part is tired of waiting. I found a home, not exactly my first choice, but it'll be the beginning of a great future. I know I can't ask you any names, but which department did you call?

Hi rewmie, Everyone gets different information and very rarely anyone's information matches the other. I never thought this process was going to suck big time, but anyways good luck and hopefully the information they gave you is somehow in a mysterious way, somewhat to be some kind of accurate.....:) it will mean there's still hope!!!

I called and no answer and I also e-mailed them about three days ago and no answer. I'm pretty sure they're getting a little tired of us and I hope they're not just telling us whatever they want just to keep us off their backs. I understand that these interviews and the entire process must be very hectic and time consuming, but as students they should undestand too that it becomes very frustrating to us and very exhausting...:eek:

I agree with everyone........Sorry @princess122 for the bad news :down: but ya know what greener pastures await. At least you had the balls to say "look tell me now or else" :hlk:

This whole process has been exasperating...smh!!! And then 20 slots for 56 applicants is disheartening. I'm really taken astonished at the way this has been handled. I do understand the competitiveness of the program but as an applicant I really don't think it's fair to us or anyone for that matter. I'm really curious to find out how long it took for the very first person who interviewed to receive an answer?

And another thing....when choosing who does get in I'm still curious of how the selection is made and if it was the same amount of people in each "batch" of interviews, especially if the date of your interview didn't mean anything.
