UTMB FALL 2010 (University of Texas Medical Branch)

U.S.A. Texas

UTMB Fall 2010 Application period starts tomorrow Nov. 15, 2009

Who here is applying for it?

Btw, there is the ATI TEAS entrance exam for FALL 2010.

Anyone taken it yet?

I can't seem to find the registration for it in the atitesting.com.

I'm anxious to get my econnect information!! lol

Anyway, does anyone know how they'll be notifying us for interviews? Is it by phone, e-mail, or snail mail?

Most people last time got an email, but there was report of at least one person who got a phone call for interviews. If its anything like for the Spring, then we will be waiting a very long time.

I'm stressing! :(

I finally received the letter with my econnect information and it says that my Application Signature Page and Texas Success Initiative were both not received!!

I mailed my signature page almost two weeks ago (or more, I'm not sure) and I called Enrollment Services, they said it's still not there and told me to e-mail to request another one. So I did. I hope they e-mail it to me and not SNAIL MAIL!! No one has replied yet, though.

I don't even know what TSI is, I've heard of it but I don't really know. I asked the girl in Enrollment Services who I talked to and she said she didn't really know so she transferred me to the School of Nursing. Then a woman there didn't really know either and she was about to transfer me to Enrollment Services!! I was like "No, wait wait!! They transferred me to you!" But she was sooo helpful, once I told her that she just put me on hold for awhile then came back and was all "I'm having someone look into it do you want to hold or would you like me to call you back?" I said I'd hold so I waited some more.

Then she came back on saying that the TSI is something you need to do if you never took your high school or college classes in Texas and that it shouldn't even apply to me because I took all my college classes in Texas and most of high school (one semester out of state, wow). So she e-mailed someone and CC'd me in the e-mail asking if it applies to me and why does it say not received on my econnect..

Does anyone know more about the TSI? It seemed like no one I talked to knew anything about it.

Grrr, just when I thought all I had to do was WAIT, all kinds of stuff is going wrong!! At least the deadline hasn't passed yet, I can still fix everything, but still.

@natatat tsi for utmb is the same thing as tsi for ut houston i think...you should be exempted or completed if you are in college

those who have taken the teas test, what kind of questions do they ask you?

Don't stress out yet natatat! That is a good thing you called though to find out what was going on. The TSI requires students to be assessed in writing, reading, and math skills prior to enrolling in college. If you taken an entrance test for college before like maybe the THEA then you should be fine. There are other tests which can be taken in place of the THEA. SAT and the ACT are also on the list if you score high enough in certain areas. It should also say on your transcript if you are TSI complete. Hope that helps!

In your E-connect it should say if you are TSI satisfactory or not.

My letter said that my TSI wasn't satisfied, and that my signature page wasn't received, but my econnect lists both as complete. I think that they did the econnects later and those have the up to date information.

That's what I thought to because the date on the letter said January 9 but I just got it today. But I called and they don't have my signature page. And my econnect still lists that that and my TSI as not received. So it's not just a delay thing, they really don't have em. But not to fear!! They already sent me a new Application Signature Page and I'm mailing it first thing tomorrow!!

See, that's what I don't get? I never took the THEA because my ACT scores exempted me. And I applied to TWU, on their website is says something about exempt ACT, I assume it's for the TSI also.

And my UT-Link for UT Houston doesn't say anything about TSI or anything like that - and I haven't received anything in the mail from them so I'm assuming they exempted me also.

So shouldn't I be exempt for UTMB also? And that information is usually on your transcripts, isn't it? That's how TWU exempted me, it's not like I had to send them anything extra.

Is anyone still taking In-Progress classes (for the Spring)? A friend of mine who applied said that her econnect also said that her TSI was not received but she actually did take the THEA when she started college. She said she e-mailed someone and a woman told her that "they will complete that requirement when the application is fully sent".

So could it be that since they don't have my Signature Page yet, they can't put "complete"? Because it's not like it says "not received" for everyone. If it said it for everyone it wouldn't matter.

Or maybe people who are still finishing up classes have the "not received"? (I only have government left so I'm not technically finished.)

The thing that bothered me is when I asked a girl on the phone in Enrollment Services, she didn't even know what it was.

And the woman I talked to in the SON didn't know either (she asked someone while she put me on hold and then said it had something to do with whether or not you went to high school or college in Texas, which it doesn't - it has to do with your college placement test or SAT/ACT scores). Why don't they even know what they're talking about?!

Same here. The letter I received in the mail showed that my signature page was not received but econnect showed that it was. I agree. I think that econnect is the more recently updated of the two but I think I'll call tomorrow to verify. I wish they showed the actual GPA's taken from transcripts, like UT does, to ensure that all updated transcripts were received.

And my UT-Link for UT Houston doesn't say anything about TSI or anything like that - and I haven't received anything in the mail from them so I'm assuming they exempted me also.

Are you sure about that?

In my UT Houston-link it says "TSI TEST/EXEMPT GROUP" right underneath "NURSE ENTRANCE EXAM"

next to them it should say "Official document on file" if they received it

Specializes in Emergency.

I never took the ACT when I entered college, or the THEA or anything like that. I was exempt from it due to my TAKS scores, I think. Does anyone know if that is acceptable for UTMB?

Yeah - - I just checked my mail and the "e-connect" letter was in there! Mine too said that the application signature page was not received. I just logged into "e-connect" and that was updated saying the signature page has been received. I never took an entrance test either for college because my scores from high school were high enough. If you are in college now there should be no issue with the TSI requirement. I know that on my transcript it says TSI complete or something to that nature. If you cannot get a good answer from a phone call then try emailing them also. I emailed them yesterday about my transcripts and they answered very quickly. I was impressed by that actually. Now I just need to take the TEAS test and then I can sit back for a moment.

Kelly2010- Have you received your econnect username yet? My friend didn't take the Thea, Tasp or Act and she's TSI exempt. She does have an associates degree, I'm not sure if that would make a difference or not but you're probably fine. If you haven't received a username yet you could call admissions to ask them to look you up in their system and they would probably know if you're exempt. Did you apply anywhere else? Because different colleges have that requirement too, so that would be another way for you to find out.
