UTHSCSA Spring 2011 Hopefuls

U.S.A. Texas

Published

hello all,

guess i'll get our thread started. i've watched these over the last few semesters, and it's a great way to share information and get to know each other.

i applied earlier this month, and got an e-mail this evening letting me know that i am eligible regarding my prerequisites. i was surprised to get something back so quickly since the deadline is july 1. anyway, that's the first step in the process...a long, long process. :) hopefully, there will be plenty of us on here to keep each other company.

look forward to getting through this process with you.

OH I AM SO JEALOUS that you got to go! I wanted to go so badly, but I had class at that time so I couldn't. Well thanks for all the info!! But the 30, 60, 5 percents only added up to 95 percent. Then you said the GPA should be 40 that makes it 105 percent. So you must have meant 35 percent for GPA I guess? Oh i hope that they get the letters out the first week of September, this wait is killing me. I guess I should get back into studying for the TEAS then! I was studying pretty hard for a month but then I got busy with my A&P class and havent' done it for a few weeks. If it's worth more than my GPA I should get back on that! Alright thanks again for giving some news on the status of everything!

the percentages are not solid numbers. they were given as approximations, so in the end, they balance. i just wanted to give an idea of about how the criteria are weighted. most importantly, i think knowing how much the TEAS test is worth gives an incentive to study extra hard for it.

they just posted on facebook that TEAS invites will be e-mailed this friday. good luck!

weird...just posted today that it would be friday for TEAS invites, and i got mine today. check your e-mail! soooo excited that we have one more step out of the way.

Yeah I got my invite today too! I am so excited! Unfortunately though I can't think about it right now, I have finals next week for A&P so I am studying my butt of for those. I'll get to studying for the TEAS after July 29th. Are you going to take it again, since you already took it? I was suprised to see that they'll let you take it more than once and accept the highest score! That might end up being me. If I don't get over a 89 on the first try, I am totally going to take it again. It's worthe the extra $100 or whatever. But I also have the practice test I can take online through ATI so that might be a good enough example that I shouldn't have to take it more than once. We'll see.... YEAH FOR THE NEXT STEP!!!

congratulations on getting the invite. i'm just going to keep the score i had last time. i think you will be fine if you study. good luck!

maybe now that the invites have gone out, maybe we will get a little more company here.

Good afternoon...i just wanted to share that i got the invite to take the TEAS too!!!...and i was wondering if it was a difficult exam..some people say u have to study others dont...i just wanted some adivce from those who have taken it, on how to prepare...thank you

congrats and welcome.

i guess how you will do on the TEAS really depends on your aptitude. i generally do well on tests, and i didn't study for it. i did well enough on it and don't plan on taking it again. however, i have done some reading on previous admission cycles on here, and some people that studied didn't do that well. you can go back and look at the fall 2010 semester forum and maybe get an idea of what people did.

if you're worried at all, i would suggest studying. it can't hurt, and the TEAS is a big part of the admission consideration, you need to do your best. i think there are practice tests available through the website that will give you an idea of what to expect. you do get your test results that same day, so if you didn't do as well as you like, i think you can retake it. not positive about that, so you might want to ask someone in admissions to be sure.

Hey guys, I'm starting in the fall and thought I would wish those of you who are taking the TEAS test good luck!!! Once you have the test out of the way it is just a long and dreadful wait, but well worth it in the end. If you feel nervous about the test I would recommend buying the ati study manual and purchasing the practice test they offer online because it is the same format as the real thing and it will help you know what to expect. The study guide also provides a review for those silly geology questions u may come across about rocks and other useless material. Don't worry though, the test isn't too bad :). If you have any questions feel free to ask and hang in there ;)

To all those that got invited to take the teas, congrats:yeah:. This time around they are taking a newer version than the previos teas that fall 2010 took. I personally only had time to only glace at the some sections of the books for only 2 days (i had other classes to study for). But the reading section is very start forward (should be simple to natural english speaker), the science section was also good (had a broad range of question not just anatomy), writing is similar to reading (just make sure that you use correct grammer), and math was also very start foward (decimals, fractions, addition, etc..~no calculators  were used when i took it so you must be able to answer all these on paper).

Good luck guys :yeah:

friendlysmile,

at the open house i attended last week, they said they are still using the same version (4.0) for spring 2011. after that, they will be using the 5.0 version.

wow, after i took the test i ask the adminstators if i failed and wasn't accepted into uthscsa if this would be the test i would take again. they told me that they would more than likely taking the 5.0 verison, i guess they decided to keep the 4.0:). If they are still using the 4.0, then it's even better. If anyone has any question about the test feel free to email my account and i will try to help anyone out.;)
