UTHSC Summer 2014 Application

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hey! I am applying for the accelerated bsn program at UT Health Science Center Houston that starts in the summer and had couple of questions. I didn't see any topics regarding that particular session (saw the Spring 2014 one) so I started this one.

So I have most of my prereqs for nursing but I still need to take my science prereqs during the upcoming fall semester. I had taken most of the prereqs (like english, psychology, etc) during high school, like dual credit, and now I just need my science classes and a few extra prereqs (like sociology).

The main question that I had about the application process was if I am eligible to apply just yet? I want to enter the summer term and will complete all my prereqs by Spring 2014. But the deadline is Dec 1 (if i'm right). Would I have to complete my science prereqs first? Or could I send in what I have and continually update them with my grades? I will complete all other requirements before the deadline (taking the HESI in October), but my grades won't be complete till after the deadline.

Thanks in advance for any help and i'm looking forward to other applicants for this session!

I also received a denial. I was surprised bc my stats seemed competitive but I will be attending utmb in the fall instead.

My science is 4.0, prerequisites 3.9, Hesi 88.something, I received a denial. I was surprised. They evaluated just half of my classes. They did the correction later. That is the only school I applied to. I need to order the teas v study guide to apply to another schl. Goodluck everyone

I was also denied for the summer but I got an email yesterday saying I was on the wait lost for the Fall, so there's hope! If you got a denial letter check your emails for the wait list!

@kamie101.... Happy for you, it is all the lord's doing, thanks for sharing

It was all my doing...

I busted my ass to get to this point.

(However, thank you for the sentiment. I know you only meant well.)

Hey UTHSC 2014 Summer Nursing students

Congrats on your acceptance and start to the program. I am applying to 2015 Summer program with my fingers crossed for acceptance.

I'd love to get your early impressions of the program, teachers, atmosphere. Do you consider starting the program in the summer to be a disadvantage due to the first "short" semester?

Any advice for a person who is just submitting their information?

I've devoured these posts and the admission process is quite interesting. I don't think it pays to tray to stress too much over their acceptance criteria.

Best of luck to all of you in the program - hope to see you on campus next year.

Hi, I'm John and new here! I was also admitted to Summer 2014 after being wait listed in Spring 2014 term. I am not sure how they evaluated each applicant, but my stats were not great as many that I saw on the forum, so don't give up!. I do have a BS in Biology and I noticed on my transcript eval they replaced my general chemistry 1/2 classes with my Organic chem 1/2 classes which I did better on. As for my work experience, I did also worked as a MLT for the past 2 years for.
