UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

I am enrolled in my final classes now and I have a green circle. Hmmmm...that's odd!

I have a green circle and have not completed all pre reqs yet, but I did not have them in progress when I applied.. maybe that makes a difference. I only need 2 more and wanted to take them during the summer.

I had a green circle previously, and I am currently enrolled in my last 12 hours of pre-reqs. My green circle turned into a check mark when I was accepted. When I accepted the offer it turned into an orange triangle. I've got my fingers crossed for each of you. Good Luck!!

Stacymonique-the deadline to apply for Spring 2013 is September 1.

The Spring deadline date for UTHSC is in September, I believe... and UTMB has their deadline in June.

Thanks guys...do yall know if you can apply to both spring and summer at the same time on the same application of if you submit 2 applications?

What do you mean about summer? Next summer? You must apply individually for each term, I believe. The best bet is to call the college and ask them directly.

Yea, next summer (2013)...I already have a BS so if I didn't get in for Spring 2013 then I might have a better chance for summer when there are fewer applicants (right now that is the only thing I can think might help improve one's chances, since grades and test scores clearly don't). Plus, some people have been speculating that acceptances were based on the order in which applications were received and that they may have just taken the first 100 or so applicants that looked good. Given that a range of GPAs and HESI scores were accepted, they clearly didn't just take people based on the best stats, so maybe there is some benefit to being one of the first people to apply for an upcoming semester. Who the heck knows?!

I too am sitting here depressed with just a green circle and no holds. Is there anyone out there with hope left? I am already thinking of reapplying next semester. For those of you like me, what other schools are you applying to? I only applied to UT this semester, but will be applying to TWU and UTMB in the Fall.

I am bummed too. I also only applied to UTHSCH this semester, but I will include UTMB in my next round of applications. I didn't go for it initially since I can't relocate and I didn't want to commute 2 hours everyday, but I hear that it is all online until you start your clinicals so it wouldn't be so bad. Plus, they still have interviews so you get a chance to plead your case or make an influence :-)
