TWU Fall 2013 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello everyone!

I am starting this thread... a year early. That is how much I want to be accepted into the Fall 2013 BSN program at TWU in Dallas. I am taking my TEAS on August 30 so that if I have to, I can take it again the following application period (after September 1). I have finished my prerequisites (last week of Summer AP2 right now, hurray).

I hope other people see this forum so that we can all talk and encourage each other about getting into the program (and be stressed out together)! Seriously hoping that this next year flies by! I Look forward to get to know other hopefuls!

Thanks for letting know !! Bummed my day out, but you just made it better. Thanks ! Have a good one,

Teddyjames, did you get that info from the financial aid office?

Yes I did. I went and spoke with them last week after I received my award letter.

Ok awesome, just making sure, thanks!

Hey everyone! Let me start of by congratulating everyone that is in! Congrats

And everyone who didn't, I can empathize I didn't either

My stats : 3.6ish gpa (can't remember) teas: 79.3 and I get a bump added as well. The one that's killing me is I only have 1/4 first attempt A's I made an A in stats and A's in lecture for A&P I and II lab is where I made B's (87 and 88) I was so close :( at the time I wasn't aware how it would weigh out as I'm an international student and I'm still figuring things out (yes I know ignorance isn't an excuse though)

SO, my main question is, has anyone been admitted to the Dallas program with only one first attempt. Because I know I can study more and make a better teas score but is it realistic to still try at Dallas with only 1/4 A's?? Also which other nursing programs in the Dallas area should I apply to?

ANY HELP OR ADVICE WILL BE SO SO APPRECIATED!

Hi there! I am sorry this semester you did not get in the program. I can definitely empathize with your situation. Don't forget that we have until April 1 to accept or decline acceptance, so there will be spots opening up for those accepting elsewhere. Also, I would maybe re-take the TEAS test to let that be a buffer and improve your overall points. Since you know you are at a disadvantage with your 1st attempts, you should strengthen other areas such as your TEAS score. Also, I heard that less people apply for the spring semesters, so you might have a better chance next semester. Whatever you do, do NOT give up and if nursing is something you really want to pursue, then your perseverance will pay off in the end.

You can call or email and ask how far down the wait list you are. That will give you an idea of how much you need to improve. I had a 3.8 gpa, 2/4 first attempts and a 96 on the TEAS and I'm 11th on the wait list. But the advisor said not many people decline their spot at the Dallas campus, like less than 5. You can try bringing up your gpa and TEAS score but honestly, I'd recommend looking at other programs. Maybe you could do an ASN program at a community college and then do a BSN bridge program.

Wow, good job on your TEAS! Even with 2/4 first attempts, you still have a 3.8 GPA and a great TEAS score.......Im floored that you didn't get in.

@rhea.randhawa28, El centro is close by and they have a pretty good ADN I hear. Also, theres Brookhaven and Collin that offer ADN programs as well.

Yeah, I'm taking 12 hours at TWU right now so I'll get the TWU bump for the next time I apply (I already have 22 hours.) Hopefully that will be enough to get me in next application period!

Thanks! Wow a 96 and you didn't get in!? That's horrible

I already called and I'm pretty down on the list and I think I'm going to start looking at a few other schools for a BSN an ADN isn't really what I want to spend time on now as my tuition is 3x as much

I just called today and I am #4 on the wait list. Does anyone know if this is good or bad? I'd like to get an idea.

It means if 4 people decline their spot, you're in. I'd say it's pretty good. The people who were accepted have until today to accept or decline their spot so more emails will probably go out tomorrow or Wednesday. To which campus did you apply?
