Can Texas LVN supervise and delegate RNs in nonclinical setting (insurance company-not case management)texas?

Well,

I called the Texas BON and they said it's up to the manager; however, it is not a violation if a LVN supervises a RN. Remember, at this particular job it does not involve ANY patient care-just paper.

LVN's are not permitted to delegate, nor supervise RN's in any capacity. LVN's may not supervise RN;s ever.

I am sorry, but you are wrong. I am talking about a nonclinical setting involving just paperwork with no client contact. I called the Texas BON and emailed them an asked and I got the response below.

In this particular case, a RN (over the supervising LVN) is avaliable for that LVN to contact when needed. That RN does not have to be onsite with the LVN. As long as the LVN is competent and able to do the job, it is up the LVN's manager.

People may not like it, but it is not illegal. No patients are in danger. I live in a more progressive and less traditional area in Texas so we have more opportunities for growth as there are many LVNs in supervisory roles. Please contact the board and you will see my point.

I will look for that email from the board me and sent it to you. It basically says in setting as described above, it is up to the descretion of the manager or other boss.

the response you got from the bon is telling you that a rn does not have to be onsite but has to be available by telephone. where in here does it say that lvn's may not supervise rn's cause this happens everyday in a lot of facilities. it is up to the facility not the bon. however, lvn's are not permitted to delegate .

i have a question, where do i get information about the things LVNs are allowed to do, eg IVs, changing G-tubes, supra-pubic catheters, flushing picc lines, etc
