Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

Studentcl is sooooo right. I was rejected from WC with a 4.0 in my sciences and a 3.9 GPA and a reasonable Teas score, but I was accepted at TCC. WC puts a lot of emphasis on the TEAS score. Half of your points comes from that test. Make sure that you study hard for it. :)

Good to know. I just know two people that got rejected by TCC that got into weatherford. I guess it's diff per person depending on the stats.

It really does vary! I only applied into TCC and got in for the fall. Your science GPA matters, yes, but I only had a 3.5 science. I was, however, one of the lowest out of our thread on the science GPA.. most had 3.75 or 4.0's. BUT your test scores matter a lot and that's where I did well on. I had a 88% adjusted on the TEAS V and I really do think that helped me out a lot. So, it isn't impossible to get into nursing school but it definitely is NOT easy either. My sister did not get accepted into TCC and she had a really good GPA and average TEAS scores. You just never know. Lots of factors to consider. Don't think one is easier than the other though.

If yall need help with anything, just ask. I'm sure several of us from the fall thread will be here to answer! :)

I have a 4.0 GPA in science and overall. Just finishing up my Associates of Arts. It will all depend on the test scores for me. I wish TCC was still using the TEAS. No one really has any advice on the HESI.

If you go to the students tab and click pre- nursing student or type in the search box HESI A2, a lot of information comes up for help if you need it!

Specializes in Progressive Care Unit (ICU step-down).

Hey everyone!! I'm applying for the spring 2012 TCC admission and I must say it cannot be december 1st quick enough! I graduated from A&M where the science classes are difficult and as of now I have 3bs and 1a. So I'm planning on retaking chemistry this summer to get a A, I hope, to have a 3.5 science gpa. I've heard so many different things regarding gpa that I'm completely lost in knowing whether or not I can get in with a 3.5. I have awesome hospital experience but as we know, TCC doesn't care about those things. Anyways, I took the hesi a2 test last summer. I didn't really study. I looked at the study guide at barnes and noble and found that there's no way I would pay 25 dollars for it. I ended up doing pretty well on it. 100 on the math, 92 on a&p... I don't remember the other scores and have no way of knowing at this point. Does anyone know what kind of chance I might have on getting in? Thoughts are much appreciated! I'm excited for this journey to begin!!

Kmart- I was a lot like you!!! I went to OU then UTA and now just got accepted into the TCC nursing program. I took all my sciences except 1 at the previous schools and they were extremely tough. I'm not saying TCC is easy by any means but there is definitely a different style of teaching and test taking. I ended up with 2 A's (both anatomys) and 2 B's (chem/micro) which gave me the 3.5 science. I was worried just like you but I just studied for the entrance exam and kicked butt on that. Also, I was in the process of taking PHED while applying and SO many people told me that I probably wouldn't get in because of this and not having it complete. Yes, the more classes you have done looks better but DONT believe all the things you read. My friend got in with 3 classes not done but her GPA and scores were great. Other thing that helps is having your shots pretty much all the way done. The only one that I didn't was the TB test which I just got done this week. I guess my main point to you is to focus on your Hesi and making sure you have all your application perfect. Don't forget the science course descriptions because of you taking your sciences elsewhere.

Also, remember that those people that find this website are usually on the top of their applicant pool. You're going to doubt yourself a lot when people start posting scores/GPA but these people are go-getters who found this site!! :)

on last thing-- isn't I weird to think that we consider a 3.5 to be a "decent GPA?" haha I think non-nursing students would kill for that. Just funny to think about! Beat of luck.. Feel free to ask questions and i promise I wont post a novel again!

And sorry for the typos! Typing on an iPhone for such long entries is not always successful! :)

I just finished chemistry this spring w/ an A... So I have 3B's & 1A in my sciences.. Would I be competitive? Cause this time they only look at sciences and HESI now? And for the HESI which sections are we suppose to take?

I may be applying to the TCC nursing program in the spring for fall admission. That has been my plan all along, BUT I may have a lead on a part time job at an HCA hospital and that changes things. If you work for HCA, they will pay for you to go to nursing school but only at El Centro so if the job works out I will likely go there. I have a 4.0 in my sciences currently, but I still need to take Chemistry in the Fall. I'm not scared though, if I can pull A's in A&P the first time through then Chem shouldn't be too difficult. We may be classmates yet! Good luck to everyone...

I was wondering what percent do we need to score on our HESI or its an overall grade together ? Cause of the powerpoint it said 50% HESI and 50% on the 4 sciences

Hi everyone,

I'll be applying in august for the 2012 tcc nursing program. I am soooooo nervous about this whole process. I can not believe that I'm almost there to completing my dreams. I have a 3.5 science gpa and I'm studying really hard so that I can do well on the HESI. Hopefully I have a chance because I know there are like hundreds of people that apply each semester. There's like 3 weeks until the applications are available to everyone. Good luck everyone! :)
