Relocating to Fort Worth

U.S.A. Texas

If you are going to work in Fort Worth area, which hospital would you apply to?

I am looking for a hospital with a good CVICU, good bennies, not usually understaffed...etc...all those things that every nurse desires.

Fort Worth Nurses, please lead me to the right direction.

Ethel, the websites and rankings of schools here just don't tell the whole story. Tanglewood gets its exemplary status by living in a high density area of higher income families and fewer apartments. They bluntly refuse to offer ANY type of special services for families who have kids with special needs.

I think the key to you guys finding a good area will be to rent for awhile and get the lay of the land traffic wise and school wise. We live in a great low key area (houses range from 125K - 400K)...the Dr's kids go to school next to kids on free lunch. We have a lot of families who have deliberately transferred their kids out of local private schools because the kids were behind. Keeping up with the Jones'es is rare, although it does happen. We blissfully do our own thing.

Well, now let me think of the next in line - Parkview Elem School. It is under Keller ISD. Maybe this neighborhood is better. I noticed TheCommuter mentioned it in her post.

Thanks guys for the heads up!

Even though the Keller ISD has a great reputation around this neck of the woods, you'll pay dearly in property taxes if you purchase a home that is located in this particular school district. I was going to buy a 1,600 square foot single family house in North Fort Worth (Fossil Creek & Summerglen part of town) about 2 years ago for the bargain price of $102,500. The projected $3,850 yearly property tax bill made me change my mind. Homes that are located in the Keller ISD have one of the highest property tax rates. If you go for a larger house located in Keller ISD, you'll likely be paying close to $5,000 yearly in property tax.

I live in a newer 1,800 square foot house located in the Crowley ISD, and my property tax bill was $2,690 this year.

I and hubby are moving to DFW in '08 and I am so confused as to where to live. I want to be NEAR but not in things and I want good schools but I hate snobbery and entitled brats who think that the world owes them designer labels. Our house budget is 150k MAX and we would like a commute of 30 mins at the most. I will be an RN by then and he will be an LPN for a while longer. (wringing my hands) What to do what to do ?
