NCTC ADN Fall 2014

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I just wondering if there are others out there applying this May for the Fall 2014 class. I just found out I have everything to apply at NCTC but with a B in A&P I I only have 10 points and I'm not sure if I will make the cut. Anyone else?

The drive to NCTC for me is about 45 minutes, but that beats an hour to hour and a half in Dallas traffic! I took micro at the Gainesville campus and never once had to deal with traffic, so that is nice. They offer clinical after the first semester at some Denton hospitals which is nice for me, only 20 minutes away.

I haven't looked into Grayson, where is it located?

Grayson is located in Denison Texas--about 50 miles (I think) straight across highway 82 from Gainesville best I remember from the signs. I'm about exactly an hour from both campuses. I live near Lewisville off 121. Thankfully, I don't have to deal with the real Dallas traffic. Just the construction on 35 around Corinth. Honestly, I haven't made the drive to Gainseville in morning traffic yet. I hope it's not too bad. I took a class at NCTC last semester but at the Cornith campus. But the traffic is just whatever, one of those facts of life to deal with. There are only so many good programs around me and they are all 30 min to an hour drive. I'll happily deal with it if I get in. Right now I'm looking for a CNA job for the summer so that I can hopefully work a few shifts or PRN once school starts. I have my CNA but no experience outside of clinical yet :( so hospitals aren't real excited about that.

Any idea when the date for the Kaplan exam will be offered?

I also have my CNA but no experience because I have been going to school and working FT outside the medical field. Trying for any program that I can get into.

I'm guessing late June since June 1 is the last day for applications. Judging from other posts on here from prior years it sounded like mid/late June was when they tested.

When I asked, they said 2nd and 3rd week in June.

Applied today for ADN @ NCTC and I hope 10 points will be adequate for acceptance. Kaplan exam will be on June 17 and June 18 up in Gainesville. Hope this helps with planning for the exam. Best of luck to all who are applying for this fall!

I did my paperwork for a degree audit in march, but I haven't gotten it in the mail yet. I'm getting nervous cuz the website said the degree audit has to be turned in with the application. Did you do the degree audit?

That does help with planning, thanks. I'm just waiting on my degree audit & I'm on my way to Gainesville to apply as well. I do hope 10 points is enough because that's what I think I'm going in with as well. Time to double down on studying.

Ditto on the studying especially for finals.

I never received my degree audit on paper. I had to go to see the nursing adviser at the Corinth campus and she printed one out for me. Do we have to apply at the Gainesville campus or can we do it an Corinth? I am excited to finally apply and hope to go in with 10 or 11 priority points. The Corinth nursing adviser said 10 was good and higher than some she has seen.

Good luck everyone! I am finishing up A&P II.

Yes we HAVE to apply at the Gainesville campus, in person. We have to bring the printout of the degree audit & fill out the point calculation form there, from my understanding. Website says it will take about 20 min. Thanks so much for the info on the degree audit, I was under the impression it would come in the mail!! I will call the nursing adviser at Corinth and check on it today so I can pick it up! I am excited to apply as well. I do pray that 10 will make the cut too!!

Good luck to everyone on your finals as well.
