If you don't mind i have a quick question about the program at North, Can you tell me what the schedule looks like for the year? As far as days of the week/ hours. Just an estimate would be great. My sister is debating the program due to having a ptjob and a family so this information would be helpfull. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried at clinics, nursing homes, and retirement homes?? Also, look in the newspaper job classifieds if you're not already, because there are sometimes jobs in there you can't find on-line easily.

thanx every one. i got a job and although im slow im getting there, today was my first day on the hall by my self( scary ). thanx again everyone

I graduated LVN from Alvin CC in May 09 and got a job at a nursing facility where I once worked as CNA. They started me with $18. I continued the RN program same summer and because they wanted me to work too many hours, I looked for another nursing home in Med Center area. I work only one day a week and they pay me $22.50. Everyone say that's too high for LVN but it maybe because of my 5 years experience as a CNA.

You can try Sava Senior Care facilities - The Westbury Place, 5201 S Willow, H, TX 77035. Contact: Yvonda Hill 713-721-0297

You can get the full list by zip code by going to this site: http://www.savaseniorcare.com/www/Locations/Default.aspx

If you want to try out at the place where I get paid 22.50, please pm me.

kelsey seybold is a wretched place to work. they are currently downgrading positions to save money. Rn-Lvn

Lvn- to MAs.

Soon enough, there will be only one RN per facility, LVNs will be working phones, and Ma's to room.

Since they started Epic, some of the physicians have gotten lazier and lazier, dropping off more and more of their duties onto the nurses.

Just wanted to put that out there, that unless all you want to do as a new nurse, is make phone calls all day, I wouldn't apply to Kelsey.

thanks, i've been working fulltime, 1 yr now. i guess it is somehow confusing if not funny, lvn cant get hired in hospitals and places that used to hire rn's are now downgrading. at least in houston, anyway have a blessed day

The difference is because hospitals have to maintain their own credentialing with the state, CMS (Medicare), and JCAHO. While physician offices often do some of the same stuff, most of the clinicians there actually don't have to be licensed at all - they're practicing under the physician's license. I've actually heard of people being hired off the street to work in doctor's clinics - even giving shots, etc.

I wouldn't compare what goes on in a hospital to what goes on in clinics. It makes for great conversation, true, but it really isn't based on the reality of healthcare. There are some physician clinics where there isn't a licensed nurse at all ... and a hospital would lose their credential and accredidation if they tried the same.
