Is there anyone planning to apply for the Fall 2014 ADN program at HCC Coleman??

Hey berryberries, I am benefiting from your resources as well (THANKS). I take pharmacology in the fall at HCC; what resources did you use for pharmacology?

I'm glad I could help out! Make sure to share them with classmates as well so you can help them save their wallets! :D

There is a math exam that you have to pass in Pharmacology.

The Math test in Pharmacology consists of:

- conversions like kg -> lb, oz-> mL, etc

- calculations like 'doctor orders x mg of drug, each tablet contains x mg, how many tablets will you administer?'

- medical abbreviations such as t.i.d -> three times a day

I used Calculate with Confidence because it provides really good step by step methods in problem solving. Not to mention it has a LOT and A LOT OF EXAMPLES. Don't get the newest edition because it's the same thing as the older edition, but with 'fancier' pages.

Aside from the book, I used Mosby's Pharmacology Memory NoteCards: Visual, Mnemonic, and Memory Aids for Nurses.

Honestly, it helped me a lot because it has a lot of silly illustrations that helped me memorize things such as B-beta blockers affect the heart.

Another awesome resource that I wish I had known before I went into Pharmacology is

. I love the way he lectures, and remembered his lectures very well throughout the exam. He's actually lecturing a Dental assisting class, but he explains how certain drug categories work (such as beta blockers) which really help with remembering how they function. The pharmacology test did test on how cardiovascular drugs worked.

That's all I can remember for now! I'll try to edit my post in the Spring 2015 thread as much as I can!

Yes thank you! Of course I'll pass it on as much as I can I don't mind at all. We all have that financial problem so we must help each other :)

Yes, I am aware that there's that pharmacology exam with conversions and ratios but I didn't know about the abbreviations. Thank you. I will strongly consider calculate with confidence since math is not my strongest suit. I need all the help I can get.

I just bought the Mosby's memory cards a few minutes ago lol I just want to be ready and I also like the silly cartoons since I'm a visual learner myself. It's a lot more entertaining.

I will check out the videos you mentioned, like I said I need all the help I can get lol.

Thank you! Just like you've given me and many other information I also recommend an app called Nclex mastery RN in the apple store. It will help you with boards. You do have to buy it but the reviews seem promising. Follow them on twitter of like them on Facebook. They give out practice Nclex questions everyday.

I'll try to stay tuned to your updates :) thank you

I emailed Ms January again about registration. The first time I asked her a couple of weeks ago she told me it was the 16th. Now she is telling me it's the 20th. Ugh. Why can't we get a straight answer! I don't want to miss out on classes I want.

Hailbop16 they are a bit disorganized with communication :p have you gotten your acceptance yet?

Yeah, it's really confusing! I'll be bringing my iPad so I can sign up for classes as soon as I'm informed. I added the classes I want to my shopping cart so all I'll have to do is just sign up when they tell me its ok.

Halibop, you can add your favored classes to your shopping cart! That way you can just sign in at the computer lab and then you can just enroll as soon as they give us the okay!

I'm looking at the 2014 Degree Plan for Nursing- Associate Program. It says for sure that for our first semeter we will be looking at:

RNSG 1413 Foundations for Nursing Practice

RNSG 1360 Clinical Nursing RNT Foundations

RNSG 1115 Health Assessment

BIOL 2402 Anatomy and Physiology II

BIOL 2420 Microbiology

I already took A&P II and microbiology this year. I'm so glad I did because this looks like a lot by itself!

You can do that? :o can you please tell me the number of the pharmacology class? I haven't herd a thing from hcc ever since I turned in my application last month. Very nerve wracking! Thank you berryberries :)

The course number for Pharmacology is RNSG 1301. :D

Yeah, you can just search for the class and add it to your shopping cart. That way you don't have to fumble and look for it everywhere.

Try to ask Ms. January when class registration will open (I think it's August 25th but I could be wrong). Also watch out for your e-mail! Those classes fill up very fast.

Okay thank you very much berryberries I'll keep that in mind :)

Awesome idea about adding to your cart!! I was trying to figure out if I should bring my laptop or ipad with me to orientation because I know the classes are going to fill up super fast.

Tell me what you are signing up for

Yes, I've already taken Pharmacology and gone to the first orientation. Just waiting for the 2nd one on the 20th and ready to enroll! So ready to begin

Yes! Bring your ipad with you since it'll be easier to carry. I have a feeling they're going to overload us with supply lists, and I wonder if they'll be selling the items there already.

Okay, this is what I picked out so far.

RNSG 1413 Monday/Tuesday 8:00am - 10:30am with Wooten

RNSG 1115 Monday only 11:00am- 1:00pm with Saddler

Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to sleep late at all otherwise morning is going to be hellish for me. But I like getting over things in the morning, and having the rest of the day to do whatever I want.

I haven't decided on RNSG 1360 because there's so many to choose from. Maybe that will be the clinicals we choose? Who knows!!

Did you guys decide yet which classes y'all want to sign up for?
