This test appeared to be way easier than the first, but we did have some grades in the 70's. I got an 84... and I've survived to the next test!!

Brianna

Specializes in Nephrology.

YAY! Katie and Brie!!!!! I'm so happy for you guys!!!!!!! Mine is tomorrow 0800 :uhoh3:

I went to a career fair today for nurses and I had to wear a little badge on which I wrote that I was a second semester nursing student at El Centro. With every booth I went to there was a recruiter in my face asking me TONS of questions and telling me all of the insider information on externships and internships. There were a few other local university students around but the recruiters didn't even talk to them. I got all sorts of cool stuff like tote bags and little toys here and there with all of the different hospitals' logo on them. They were very impressed with my El Centro background (and yes, I am including NL and THR!) where they weren't so quick to grab the university students. I guess we're going to have to pilfer through awesome offers! Even the lady who gave the seminar was thoroughly impressed that I went to El Centro. I guess they see so few of us hahaha. ALL of the local hospitals were there and they each spent some major time with me whereas they would just give a smile to the university students. I'm not saying I am better than the university students but I am wondering why they were SO impressed with El Centro...I was really amazed. It got me even more excited to graduate! And I got free bags which I LOVE! haha

Wow....long post hahaha

Specializes in ante/postpartum, baby RN.

Thank you. Good job Brie. And good luck Allison. :balloons:

It was the same thing with the mock trial. I got there very early and I was one of the first few people there looking for coffee. :lol2: So I was getting ready to drink it when a very nice lady started talking to me. After I told her that I was an ECC nursing student she wouldn't stop talking about their extern and internships. She was very professional and gave details about their programs for December 07 graduates. She even asked my GPA and other stuff. (They also had all the free stuff from different hospital representatives.) :p

Katie

Congrats Katie and Brianna!

Allison,

That is SO awesome! Hearing that makes me so happy that I chose this RN program. When I went to the info. session in May Pam Farley was telling all of us that we would have NO problem finding jobs if we graduated from El Centro. She said that Baylor, who has a nursing program through Baylor University, recruits El Centro grads before their recruit their OWN grads. That's saying alot! She said the recruiters would seek us out - I guess she was right.

I'm so proud of all you, Katie, and Brianna - you guys are almost HALF through the program!

Thank you for the good luck vibes! I need all that you can send :D

my husband just rolled his eyes when I dragged in even more tote bags haha. I am a total bag collector. I now have one that says Parkland on it! I'm so excited!!

That is awesome how well we are received! It makes me even more proud! Obviously, the El Centro program knows what they're doing even if some people tend to not agree with it or don't want to do all of the work. It literally pays off in the end.

I guess she was right! I got first-hand exposure to that today! The Baylor lady did tell me that too about taking El Centro students over their own graduates sometimes. I really didn't think any of the hospitals would talk to me because I was a student but I couldn't keep them off lol. I was the only El Centro student that I could see..I tried to look for other faces.

Oh then on a corny sidenote- U2 is my all time favorite group and while I was walking through the different booths, they started up a U2 album over the loud speaker and I was in immediate happiness. I was feeling great about my achievements thus far and I got to hear U2 at the same time!!!! It was AWESOME!!!! :lol2:

So, Allison, I guess this means you are a bag lady?? LOL!

Thanks and Good luck!!!!!

I have actually heard first hand that El Centro is the cream of the crop! My clinical instructor also teaches at TWU and she prefers us over them!!! Their test questions are basically just definitions... plus passing at most universities are 75 and under! I know that UTA is 70 and TCC is 72. I believe we are the only school that is at 78! Hopefully I'll make it... lol!

That's so cool to hear about the programs. When I tell people I want to get into the ECC program, they always ask me about job placement. I'm not sure they believe me when I tell them that grads don't really need it!

And, I love the bag lady comment :D
