Does anyone work for Texas Children's Hospital (Houston)...?

U.S.A. Texas

Hello everyone...

I am very excited to say that I have accepted a position at Texas Children's Hospital!!! :cheeky:

This is going to be quite the adventure leaving California and moving my family down to Texas. I hear it is a whole different world done there.

I am writing to ask for info regarding people's experiences with TCH and to see if anyone has any tips, suggestions, or comments for me regarding the hospital, where to live, or anything else you can think of as I prepare to move.

I am considering moving to Katy and commuting to Houston instead of living in the city. I have heard great things about Katy and it seems like a great family place.

Thank you for any advice! :D

Specializes in Neonatal, NICU level IV.
If you are going to be working at the main TCH campus in The Medical Center (TMC), you will have quite a commute to deal with. I'm very familiar with that route, as I had to cope with it for many years. It can take from 30 minutes to > 2 hours, depending on time of day or traffic mishaps along the way.

What about taking the Westpark Tollway? If it ensures that my commute takes less time, I don't mind paying a little.

Specializes in NICU.

Hi VintageSwagger,

Congratulations! Since I am also trying to relocate to a Houston NICU, do you mind my asking you what you've learned in your search? Did you simply apply for a TCH job posting online, or were you in touch with a recruiter. Thank you! :)

I live in Katy and love it. The traffic in Houston is ridiculous!!! There is a TCH close to katy off of i10 the commute there wouldn't be bad

Check league city :)

Congrats on your position! I'm from California also (SF Bay Area). If you're use to Cali traffic then Houston should not be that bad. I live in Katy (near 99 and Westpark Tollway) and honestly taking Westpark is a joke sometimes. It may be faster taking the feeder roads and its free!!

Hey guys! I had my prelim phone interviews with TCH for CVICU and PICU. I have 2 years PICU experience in Las Vegas, started as a new grad. Fingers crossed! I was told "if they like me" i'll be flown out for an interview. I was hoping to hear about your interview experience with TCH, moving, did they offer relocation? ect. I'm Sacramento CA originally. Seems like the Californians are trying to make their way over lol. Keep me in your thoughts (yall), super nervous. ;)
