HI All.

Im thinking about going to concorde for the LVN program. I know it's expensive, but I know I wont regret it. Later I'm thinking about the RN- bridge program at El centro.

Here are my questions...What test do they give you?? What about the WIA?? I'm kind of confuse with the whole WIA. Some said they pay for your class. Is it true?? Any help would be nice. thanks.:wink2:

It sucks so hard to be me right now. So they got that evening program at Concorde. I'm turning my seat down though. Clinicals on Sunday from 8am to 9pm, every other Sunday. I was so hype, so ready. But im very active in church. I cant miss 2 sundays. Man.. there are many who are going to love to have that seat. No other evening programs around here. I guess it wasn't meant to be. I would have drove 30-40 miles away.. Stays as late as they wanted.. Went to clinicals from Saturday to Sunday morning.. but just not during church... maaaaaaannn.. I am soooo hurt.. I was soooo ready.... but I just can do it....:o

Are you going to the Concorde here in Denver? I didnt know they offered night program anymore!!!!!!!! If so I want to be signed up

I would take communters advice & go to Wedesday service. I dont know what religion you are but most have week day services

Commuter, I also attend on Wednesday nights. The problem is that I don't just attend on sunday, I am active. I was going to take a leave of absence from my duties at the church, but I just didn't feel right about it. I guess I will coninute to take supportive classes toward an ADN or BSN. I have already taken the basic prereq's for the ADN program.

Actually, Skittlez was referring to the Concorde Career Institute located in Arlington, Texas. Arlington is equidistant between Fort Worth and Dallas. :)

Just a little FYI: I was told by my instructors the other day that Concorde now has a year minimum waiting list for entry into their LVN program. There was no waiting list back in July when I signed up! :eek: Don't quote me for truth on that but that is what I was told..

I met with a rep from Concorde last night, and I'm really pumped about the possibility of starting my career as an LVN. My goal was to go straight to BSN, but I've looked at, and lengthwise (assuming I were to get into TWU's BSN program on the first try) it will be the same amount of time (I still have at the minimum 1 semester of pre-reqs). I can take the one year LVN program then do a 2 year LVN-RN bridge and hit the RN status in the same amount of time. The only thing I balk at is the price. El Centro has a much cheaper program, but it doesn't start until the fall. I could start at Concorde as early as January!! That's the trade-off I need to weigh.

Has anyone here heard of or participated in a LVN-RN bridge at the hospital that they work at? The guy at Concorde said there were several hospitals in the area that will train you to be an RN while you are working as an LVN - and you get paid for the training! Is this true?? Are there ample spots for the programs?

I am currently in the LVN program at Concorde in Arlington, TX. We just finished our 2nd level on the way to #3 and then to level 4 and will grduate in June 2007. Thank God!! It is a pretty good program the money is a big factor!!!!!!! I don't think any nursing school is easy and you can do the bridge programs they just want tell you about them until you finish. Not quite sure why!!!!

I have looked into Concord before I started , and the price just shocked me. I just have a question to you guys, why if you have to do your prerqs in order to get into a RN bridge program anyways, don't you do those first and try to get into an RN program like El Centro from the start? Just wondering. I know the wait and all, but one poster just mentioned , that even Concord has a one year waiting list now. And by the way , I got accepted with my first try at El Centro . I should be done in 3 years with my RN, with prereqs and all. I guess what I'm saying before you consider taking up those big loans for an LPN program that may not even be accredited , maybe it be wise to just try to apply to different schools, you never know what happens. I already have most of my pre-reqs done. For me the choice has come down to finishing the pre-reqs and then waiting (and possibly waiting, waiting, waiting...) to get into a BSN program (or an ADN) or starting right away. Then, once I'm working as an LVN after only one year of training, I can get PAID while I finish up my RN. Right now I'm stuck in a dead-end administrative-type job. Why not move into nursing now and at least enjoy my job while I continue school??

I don't know about other Concordes, but this one still has open spots for their next start date. So I will get in right away.

It is necessary for some of us to 'stair-step' our ways up the career chain. I am glad you had the luxury and luck to be admitted on your first attempt. Not everyone can do things in the manner that has worked out for you, though.

However, people whose grade point averages are below 3.5 will have trouble being admitted to an RN program on the first or second (or third) attempt. Then there are people like me, who worked 12-hour days at a factory and did not have the time or flexible work schedule to complete community college prerequisites. I needed to be done with school in less than 1 year without any waiting lists.

That's the boat I'm pretty much in. I work full time (although not 12 hour shifts in a factory - yikes) and it's just really hard to complete the pre-reqs. Can it be done? Sure. I just don't want to wait.
