I'm just wondering if anybody else applied for summer and what is your gpa and hesi score. I worried coz my gpa is only 3.1 and my hesi is 82.19%. I asked the receptionist and she said that it's pretty competitive to get into the program. Anybody who got accepted for the spring 2011?Any info you can share will be very much appreciated.

Hi, I applied to TAMUCC E-Line for summer 2011 acceptance. I am not sure if you were talking about the online program or not. I have an interview on March 23rd. I know they only accept about 10 people for the online program and more than 30 applied. I don't know much about the traditional program. My gpa was 3.2 and my hesi average was a 88 with 90s in the science sections. Anyone else apply to the Eline program?

Hi! good luck on your interview. I already got my packet and im going to do the generic program for the summer. Out of 140 applicants they only took 40 for the generic nursing program. I hope you get in too.

Congrats that's great!! Did they interview you or did you just get something in the mail? I was surprised that they wanted to do an interview since the online section is so small. What made you decide to do the generic vs eline? Have you heard anything good or bad about the eline program?

jhinojos49,

when did you recieve your acceptance to the generic summer 2011 program? were you interviewed at all?

Hi everyone,

I was interviewed on Wednesday March 23rd 2011 for the eLine program for Summer 2011. I received my acceptance packet in the mail on the following monday. Classes start for us on May 31st. If anyone has any questions about the eLine program please let me know and I will try to answer them the best I can!

I got my packet before spring break. I did not get interview sched. I think its only for those who"ll take e-line. Class starts on 5/31 and we can start registering on monday 4/4.

Here is some more information for anyone who is interested in the eline program. This forum doesn't always notify me when someone responds or asks questions. If you ever post something and I don't answer, please email me at [email protected]

My interview for the eline program went great on March 23rd! I found out last Monday that I was accepted to the program!! Here is the run-down on the interview and admission stuff. This round, 30+ people applied to the eline program and 9-10 were accepted. Ten is the maximum number of people that the program accepts each semester (summer, fall, & spring). There were only 10 people at my interview so I assume they mainly interview their selected candidates to make sure they like you in person. The interview was kinda like an orientation, we were taught about financial aid and school resources. We also got a chance to ask faculty and current eline students many questions. This was all done in the morning. Right before lunch we went to the computer lab and they had us do a writing exercise with a nursing prompt. They gave us like 45min to type it and then they printed it out and gave it to the people who would interview us. After lunch, which they served to us, we were interviewed individually by a group of people (faculty, staff & students). The questions were fairly simple, just get to know you questions. With a few dilemma situation questions. I recommend asking questions at the end.

They made their admission decisions that Wednesday evening and had letters out by Friday (which I got on Monday). School starts on May 31st and registration started on April 4th. With my acceptance packet was a check list of things that you must have before class starts. Such as $100 deposit, CPR by American Heart Association, current immunization record, transcripts, and criminal background check.

I learned somethings at the interview. The quickest that the program has ever been completed is 18 months (that is school work and clinicals). If you want to complete it this quickly, they recommend you have don't work. Pharmacology is now a prereq and so you do not have to complete this again during the program, which shaves of some time. Clinicals are the tricky part depending on where you are located.

Please let me know if you have anymore questions. I will try to keep you updated throughout the program. I want to complete it ASAP! My goal is 15-18 months, so we will see if it is do-able.

Thanks

mrsaggie

mrsaggie,

Did they mention where the clinical locations are now? I am in Houston and the last time I checked she said they didn't have any in my area and I would have to travel to CC to do my clinicals.

Hi,

Yes they do have them in Houston. I am not too familiar with Houston so I don't remember the names of the hospitals that they have contracts with. I know it was a little more difficult to get into the clinicals in Houston because there are already so many students there but they did have contracts with some places. I know one of the hospitals there allowed students to come as long as you weren't or haven't been employed there before. For an exact list of places email Rita Rushing at [email protected]. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!

mrsaggie:

Thank you so much for the info! Question- do you have a degree already? If so, was it taken into account in the application process? I'm considering applying to the eline option for Spring 2012. I've spoke to Ms. Rushing and she indicated that TAMU-CC has a few clinical partnerships located in the Spring/Conroe areas. Clinical sites are determined by 1 of 2 options: (a) where you work (e.g., this is most preferable so that you can do all of your rotations with your employer) or (b) assistance in finding a new facility if your employer is not willing or cannot provide a preceptor. Ms. Rushing emphasized that it is the student's responsibility to find a clinical site; TAMU-CC will make sure of the logistics-paperwork, contracts, etc. Each course is setup as modules consisting of lectures, assignments and/or tests with due dates. The eline option is self-paced...not structured as UTA or other comparable online programs. Modules may take 1 semester...or 3 semesters depending on your work/home/or other responsibilities. 15-18 months is doable- discipline is key. Congrats and good luck in the program!
