Vanderbilt's Nurse Residency Program

Does anyone have any advice on how to make a strong letter of intent for Vanderbilt's Nurse residency program? I know they accept a lot of applicants for each cohort but I'm not sure how many people actually apply and how competetive it actually is. If there is anyone on here that is currently in the program, was previously or knows anyone who has gone through the program, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That is great to hear! I am in a similar situation. I live in Georgia so I would have to make the move as well. Good luck everyone! Hopefully we should hear something next week!

Good! I'm glad I wasn't just missing something...I didn't think there was anyway to type on it! I also don't have any recent volunteer experience...I wouldn't think that many people would with how time consuming nursing school is! I would love to hear advice from others in the program about the application process as well!!

Yeah, esp. since most of us have volunteer requirements from school. So anything I've done has gone towards my school requirements so I didn't write them down.

As for filling out the forms, I typed up something and then cut it out and taped it onto the form and made a copy of it. Is that too geeky? lol

I just got my response today and I did not get an interview...oh well, on to the next thing! And good luck to all and congratulations on those who did get an interview!

I just got wait listed for the adult critical care track for this Winter 2011 cohort. I was kinda down until I read your post and saw that it is stilll possible to get an interview and get in!

yes being on the waitlist means you still have a chance. many people end up not taking the job when they get offers because they decide not to move or get other offers etc. good luck, but if you don't get in its not the end of the world. You may feel like it is at first but you will soon see that you can get the same experience at other hospitals.

I made it through the interview! Some tough thought-provoking questions and others I felt I did GREAT! How is everyone else feeling about the interview? Heard there have been some major cutbacks at the hospital....wonder if that means less Residents this time around? Can't wait till November! Still hopeful and still so very thankful I made it to this point! :)

BSN-Grad what major cutbacks did you hear about? I figured with the economy that most hospitals are cutting back, but I haven't heard anything about Vanderbilt.

Not sure where the info is from, but I'm not seeing any cutbacks around here. It's probably the opposite to be honest.
