I just joined this site in May, after I got my letter for NS. I was just wondering how many people out there are attending Roane State's Nursing Program?

What GPA did you have?

What was your GPA for the gen ed. courses?

Yes my GPA was for all my prereq courses, it was 2.75...I did have my highest grades in my Sciences; Micro and A&P 1&2 (2 A's and 1 B). I finished all my prereq's before starting Nursing school except English Comp 1. I did that one between 1st and 2nd year in the Summer semester. I was dropped last Fall for failing to pass the math test and I have been readmitted for this Fall to finish my Senior year, thank goodness!

i know this is a private question but to those of you who have been accepted, what grades did you have in your preq classes? just wondering if i'm doing good lol or how my chances are

I am in ap2 right now and taking micro this summer too :) Just try to make as many A's as you can, they award more points for those (2 i think) and 1 for B's for your science and math classes.

yeah i have an A in ap1 now, doing well. really which campus? I have all A's and B's except my C in math hope that doesnt effect it lol, i took it 7 years ago so i really dont want to have to take it again lol

I am at the Oak Ridge branch, which one are you at? I loved ap1, 2 has been a little more difficult. I have everything complete but micro, all A's but a B in math. We will see in 2 weeks or less if I got in or not :)

I know this is an old post but I was wondering if any 2nd yr or RSCC graduate nurses have any advice for us newbies??

So to everyone already in or have graduated from the program, any advice on what to study before classes start? what do we need to look over and fresh up on? any book suggestions? I want to avoid being overwhelmed as much as possible. even tho i know its going to happen lol just excited and ready to get the ball rolling! :nurse:

First of all, Congrats on being accepted! Second, get everything done well before summer is over, physical, scrubs purchased, tb test, vaccines if you need them, drug screen, shoes, stethoscope, etc. There is a lot to do and you have time, but dont wait til the last minute. Enjoy your sleep and your life now! Explain to friends and family that you are about to start an extremely difficult program and your time with them will be limited. If you have kids, go ahead and get them on a schedule, plan meals, freeze meals, etc. The key to nursing school is being organized and prepared. I dont think there is anything that I would have brushed up on and it would have helped some people say anatomy but they arent teaching you that they will teach you what you need to know. I cant remember if they give you summer reading to help you, I dont think they do but if so go ahead and start. Get to know your classmates, study in groups (not to big) Ask your teachers for help, that is what they are there for! I have had knox, harriman, and oak ridge teachers and they are ALL wonderful and willing to help. Pay attention in lab and clinical and ask questions, start looking at how to write a careplan! That is important. Go to class! So many people thought they could just ease by and they didnt make it, the math tests are pass/fail but the teachers do a great job of teaching it, pay attention and ask questions
