  1. Hey, I just got my acceptance letter from Roane State yesterday and so now, my husband and I are really crunching the numbers financially and I'm not sure if I want to invest that kind of money for my BSN right now. Due to income, I would not be eligible for financial aid (maybe only grants), and so Roane State is looking a lot more attractive now!-LOL I'll just get my BSN after and hopefully the employer will pay for it. I'm already registered for a CHEM 101 class this summer (last class needed for C-N) that I'm still going to take since it will be needed for my BSN anyway. The ADN is the "Associates Degree-Nursing". Roane State has 3 locations where you can sign up...Harriman, Knoxville, and the Oak Ridge campus....Orientation is on May 18th, so I'll get more info then. If you can afford C-N in whatever way possible, I say by all means go for it!!!
  2. Hey courtneylane, I just sent you a PM.
  3. I didn't apply to LMU, so I can't compare it to C-N. On this site, there seemed to be a lot of negative comments about LMU (and in all fairness maybe the program is a lot better now) and that concerned me a little bit. However, for me, the biggest thing is the driving distance since I live in Knoxville. C-N is about 30-35 miles and LMU is over 60+.
  4. Well, I also applied to Roane State, Walters State and Pellissippi State (their nursing program is brand new). I'm still waiting to hear back from those 3, but I have decided on C-N because even though it's pricier, I already have a B.A. so I figured that since any program is going to be two years, it only makes sense for me to go all the way and get my B.S. now, instead of later. Have you applied to any of those 3?
  5. Just curious if anyone will be attending Carson Newman nursing in the Fall? I have been accepted to their nursing program and I am really excited. :)
  6. There's no question that this country has the best legal system of any country. However, with that said, there are MANY things that need to be fixed. It seems like more and more, the courts look for ways to make an absurd amount of money off of people. One of the ways they seem to administer "punishment", is to make people pay out money they don't have. I don't understand the correlation at all. I guess that's why if you have money, you are treated better (i.e. being able to afford a laywer, etc.), and if you don't, you are totally screwed. I would be as frustrated and upset as you are. The saddest part is the children. The mother is being spiteful and vindictive and in the long run, the children are the ones who will suffer, for not having a loving father around, spending time with them. I don't know why some women behave like that. Just know that in the grand scheme of life, 6 months is a very short time. I know that money is tight for everyone, but make sure that you complete whatever directives the court gives. Whatever you do, do not get on the judge's bad side. They have the power to make life miserable for you and I know you don't want that!
  7. Thanks for the info MissRNstudent. That is also what Tomi said. You do not have to have all your pre-req's completed, in order to be accepted, but she just suggested for a better chance to get accepted, to get good grades in the sciences and math, to increase your points. It seems like there is a variety of scenarios to be able to get in and I think that's a good thing.
  8. Let me just be clear....I am in no way saying that you will not get in with a 4.0, I'm just repeating what was told to me. I think her point is that don't automatically count yourself in because you have a 4.0 (and your sciences are not completed), and don't automatically count yourself out, just because you have what you may not think to be a competitive enough G.P.A. (especially IF you did well in your sciences).
  9. Well I know that they rank also by a point system. They give 2 points for an "A" and 1 point for a "B", for A&P 1 and 2 and also, for College Math. So from what Tomi Thompson has told me (Nursing Admissions Coordinator), someone with a 4.0 may not get in IF they haven't completed all of their sciences, because someone with a lower G.P.A, say a 3.7, may have completed their science classes and received an A grade in both, which gives them 4 more points over the person who has not completed their sciences. So the best scenario in addition to having a strong G.P.A, is to complete those science courses (since Math is required) and do well in them, so that you can get as many points as possible.
  10. Just a small correction....the HESI A2 was the required test for Fall 2010 applicants. I don't know if maybe next year they will change to the TEAS or something else, but for now, it is the HESI A2.
  11. Did you take the latest version of TEAS (version 5)? or v3.0/4.0? Thanks.
  12. Can you pm what Suzanne's plan is?
  13. Is that better than the book on Elsevier?
