Calling all SOUTHWEST Tennessee Community College Fall 2011 Hopefuls!!!

U.S.A. Tennessee

Hi! I'm going crazy in suspense waiting to hear if I am accepted or not. Is anyone else trying for the fall 2011 semester at Southwest Tennessee Community College? How are ya feeling? :uhoh3: I'm sweating bullets! Need some buddies on here!

I have to go tomorrow. I'll see if I can find out more info.

Typical from her. She's rude 100% of the time, even to her bosses. It's very disrespectful, but they let her get away with it.

So, is this rude woman simply a clerk? If so, it explains why she has never risen higher and I guess I wouldn't even have a problem with her. If not, it looks bad on the college to have someone on the nursing department staff to act that way even if she has answered more than a few phone calls.

My sis is a nurse and has told me that her floor is only hiring bsn nurses right now. Has anyone else heard a trend of this happening? I believe it is b/c they are trying to get "Magnet" status. I think the medical community in general is leaning toward everyone having more schooling. This seems to be true for even post grad programs like CRNA's. But I will say that this info has me slightly more interested in a bsn program than I was before. If this is a trend (not that I know enough to say it is) the staff might want to act professionally or replace those who don't. Most of the applicants that can do well enough for Southwest could also enter bsn programs. I'm not saying they won't have applicants still lining up to get in, but it could effect the quality of applicants that want to remain in the same line. But if it is simply supply and demand and they don't have to worry about this ever then they have the upper hand and my points don't apply. Just my two cents.

I believe the person is question is employed as a clerk. Ironic that you would be hired to answer the phone and become annoyed because you have to do so.

As for a BSN bias, I have seen several job postings that state BSN only. It may be policy at some hospitals. An equal candidate with a BSN should always have an edge on a peer with an associates, but that doesn't mean jobs aren't available.

I intend to enroll in UM RN to BSN program as soon as I complete SW. It probably would be quicker to go straight to U of M, but doing it this way works better with keeping my current job and going to school.

@ sifihippie- THANK YOU!!! You rock! Any tidbit at this point would be awesome~!

I've seen and heard alot of the BSN stuff. I, too, am planning on doing the RN-BSN program as soon as I finish STCC. My grant covers all of my tuition at swtcc so I decided it would be good to utilize it, and be able to start working without student loans on me.

Anyway, still no call... APRIL APRIL APRIL!!! C'mon April....

is it definitely april? the website says march. I wonder if she was just being a *****.

I was in class with a guy Monday that said he had Southwest lose his transcripts much like I had and that he got a certified letter saying he wasn't accepted to the program. I didn't think fast enough to ask when that happened and if it was for this fall class. But I assume it was. So maybe those who weren't accepted already received the letter. If so that is good news for us. And yes, I'm sure of nothing that I just wrote...lol.

@kammel - It appears so. The website also has the LPN fast track listed as April, but they have already been notified.

@grpman - That is most likely true. I tried to get into this spring semester and if I remember correctly, I got my rejection letter before the acceptance calls were made.

Well, I just called and asked so politely-even apologized that I knew she was probably getting lots of these calls, but I, as everyone, am anxious. "Do you have any idea when they will be notifying the applicants about the fall nursing acceptance?"... Before I could get the words out of my mouth, she interupted me and VERY aggressively replied "YOU'LL FIND OUT IN APRIL. OK? APRIL." So I said "ok so we'll at least know something by the end of the semester (27th of APRIL)?" Her reply: " I SAID APRIL, APRIL, APRIL!!" In the process of telling her thank you she hung up on me. Guy's I'm NOT exaggerating at all. I understand she's probably answered the same call a zillion times, but dang, REALLY?

I'm still a bit taked back at how much effort and emphasis she put into being rude and making sure I knew she was ******. That was just plain nasty! What a fruitloop?!?!Questioning... What exactly am I getting myself into?

How about everyone start calling right now and asking 333-5425. LOL

So no phone call for me today either. Maybe we'll find out in APRIL!!!!

If you think that's bad, just wait until she calls (and she WILL be the person calling) to give you the good news and then makes you feel awful for being excited. LOLLLLL she needs to stop her mess!!!

... No call, no letter, still nothing. Just thought I'd give an update! Lol! Only 2 days 'till April!!! Woo Hoo!!!

I heard that the calls will go out this week. There are already folders made with all the names on them for the new students! It's traditionally been Friday, so let's hope tomorrow!
