I will be starting training soon as a Humana Telephonic Work At Home Nurse. The training is in Tampa Florida. Can anyone give me any input on the training process, company culture, this type of position, and details on the job?

Thank you!

I have been there not too long, 9mo) and am looking. Too stressful, too much work caseloads, as far as ur. you know the usual. the metrics justify staff. the metrics are there. Medicare have turn around times. you don't meet it, snowball effect, it affects your performance, plus CMS guidelines. I am tired of that endless rat race. Not what I signed up for. I do sooooooo much case management. its not just UR with milliman/Robertson, extending the days. at rounds they wanna know what u are doing to get them outta there, yes we round 2 days a week on people with los greater than 7 especially with snf patients. those lil old people are so used to their ways and living alone, go to a snf....doing dc planning, and then there is nobody for them to go home with.....anyhoo, its too much for me. Medicare is harddddddd. I want OUT! AND working at home alone with it is more, especially if you haven't done it. Nobody to look over your shoulder, or you can't stand up and look over a cubie for help. Not to mention the letters you must submit, per CMS guidelines for certain thing. Being that you work at home, you will continue to work, to stay caught up, trust me, you will want to TRY and stay caught up. The faxes come in so fast. This is from a UR work at home nurse

Absolutely not... if you've taken the job with Humana then you probably know this. They have trained in FL for yrs...now have started in other areas. Basically what is amounts to is two weeks in St.Pete then WAH with a mentor...

Good luck if you go there..keep your PRN job.

I have a question about internet connection. I had the 1st interview today with a video interview scheduled for next week. During the interview the interviewer asked about having dsl. I was sure I could get dsl, but I have fiberoptic and I called my company to ask about getting dsl and it isn't available! Anyone that is a care manager out there have fiberoptic connection or is fiberoptic suitable for this position? Is there an IT number that anyone has that I can call and ask?

I was just wondering how the job went with Humana at Home and if there are any others out there who are doing this type of job and how they like it. I am thinking of applying for this type of position.

I'm glad you're helping others see inside the picture. Hope you get something you're be happy with. Good Luck!!!

Am wondering, as I read these comments, if anyone has worked for a large insurance company before, in utilization review or case management. Because if you have, you know that metrics are very important as is productivity. It's just a fact of working at an insurance company. I see it as neither good, nor bad. It just is. If you are coming from hands on nursing, maybe these jobs are not for you. I've been working in UR and as a case manager for the last ten years and really enjoy it. Pressure? Yes. Metrics important? Yes. Pushed to produce? Yes. You are going to find that with any RN job at an insurance company. But the work at home opp and more regular hours, as well as the pay, is worth it to me.

I fly to St. Pete 4/10/16 for 2 weeks training. (RN case manager-snp)

anyone recently attend training there? Curious what to expect.... Agenda, hotel, rental car?, meals paid?, free time?

I did training in Cincinnati, OH...for work at home telephonic concurrent review position. I was flown there for 2 wks to learn the system/software only. Flew to Daytona Bch for 2 wks to orient for the job which was a joke. All was on the company. Paid for by corporate credit card issued to me. I had to submit expense reports with all receipts. Once you get home. Good luck with getting help.

Hi all! I've accepted a position as a case manager with Humana, supposed to fly out on May 15th for training in florida. I also wanted to get some information from others who have done this on what all to expect. Specific questions: 1. do they provide a rental car while we are there? if not, how is transportation arranged? 2. what does the training cover? how in depth is it? 3. how long are the training days? 4. what is the pay scheldule? what days are payday, and when does time period end? (i'm an OCD planner when it comes to finances and budget months in advance)

I am pretty sure you will need to collect all your receipts and submit expense reports for all meals and cab fare. I am quite sure you will be getting an itinerary with all the details about the food allowances and rental car. When I trained I had a corporate credit card issued to me for everything. I still had to submit expense reports. They reimburse tips too. Cocktails are included in your dinner/lunch food allowances. I par took in the vivo...Tehehe. Hotel is usually close to the airport so use the shuttle...save on cab fare outta your pocket. They work until 5p very seldom do they break early. Of course down time is yours. The locals/trainers usually let you know of good after hours hot spots for dinner/entertainment and the likes. Oh yeah the hotel they put us up at was a Hilton property in Daytona Beach, a Hilton property in Cincinnati, OH. Hope this helps. I lasted with the company a little over a year....

I'm scheduled for training in Florida the same week as you Nurseajd!! I've heard training is from 8-430 M-F but don't know much else. My email is [email protected]... I'd love to hear from you between now and then!

I'M interested how can I apply? Please help.
