Who's taken the teas v?

Nursing Students TEAS

And what did you think? I took it last week and feel like I was prepared for the Math and Reading portions by using the study guide but I really struggled with the Science portion. For me it was a lot of Chemistry and it's been a while since I've taken that course. I met the minimum requirements in each category for my program but it's the first year they're using the TEAS V (Last year they used the NET) so I'm not really sure what a competitive score is yet. Anyway I know there are different entrance tests and versions of the TEAS everyone is taking so I was just wondering how people felt about version V.

Buy the book. The sample test online is closer to the real test, but EVERYTHING that is tested is in the book. Everything. I left the test and thought for sure they had asked science questions that "I couldn't possibly know" and when I got home and looked more closely, those points were more deeply covered in the text. It's invaluable. My copy is dog-eared from paging back and forth in it.

The ATI book is actually very, very good. I feel reading through it alone would be a wonderful prep. I think looking over the questions for the practice tests would be good too.The readings in the book have questions at the end that are actually pretty similar to the questions on the actual exam. The book is like $42.00 after tax and all that jazz (for those that don't know).

is there a lot of word math on the teas?

I am trying to recall - I do not think so or else I would have had a strong adverse reaction to your question (as word math can really suck). If there was it was very doable and basic. A lot of the math was very basic so I wouldn't worry!

I get the impression there is more then one version of the Teas V, my version of the Teas math section was mostly word problems. Simple yes, but also tedious work.

I also agree and would not be surprised if there is more than 1 versioof the teas

Oh, I was going by my exam and the actual ATI book. The book truly had minimal word problems but those test-makers love throwing surprises at us. I definitely read somewhere that there are different versions of the exam. Tedious perhaps but it seems for the most part simple.

I took the TEAS V exam last week, pencil & paper version, got my results yesterday. I scored 88% overall (Reading 97.6%, Math 96.7%, Science 79.2%, English 80%).

I studied the Version V manual for about a week prior to the exam. The practice exams in the manual definitely helped me identify the areas I needed to brush up on, mainly science. I took the first practice exam before I did any studying, then studied for several evenings. I took the second practice exam 2 days prior to taking the actual exam, and did significantly better on that one. Again, the practice exams really pointed out my areas of weakness.

The test itself was an endurance trial. I flew through the Reading & Math sections with no problem, and had time left to recheck each question.

The science section is hard...seriously. The questions are not general, they are very specific. I took microbiology & chemistry 3 years ago, and haven't spent much time thinking about covalent bonds/ prokaryotic cell structure since then. Again, the questions are very specific. I was very pleased with 79.2%.

I was disappointed that I scored 80% on the English section. I scored much better than that on my practice exams, and they seemed like an accurate representation of the actual exam. I think my brain was somewhat fried after finishing the Science section, also a little fried from being 3.5 hours deep into this exam.

I would definitely recommend the ATI study manual, it saved my bacon.

Is there an ONLINE version of the study guide? I test in a week and I cant wait for it to be shipped. :-/

Looking at the ATI site, looks like I'm out of luck.

I don't think there is an online version of the ATI study guide, but other book stores do sell it. I ordered mine from Amazon and had it in two days (with Prime shipping). If you're willing to pay a bit extra for faster shipping, I'd think that an online bookstore could get it to you in time. I used several books to prepare for the TEAS, and the ATI guide was definitely very useful.

I'm so sorry, I am sure this has been asked several times, but I can't find an answer... I am taking the TEAS V, but have the TEAS 3.0 study guide. Can anyone advise me on if I should buy the updated study guide?

Thank you so much!

Yes you should! I have both study guides and there are things that are in 5 that are not in 3 such as roman numerals... Also the reading comprehension on 5 is completely different. There isn't anything on rocks on 5 either. If you have any other questions let me know.
