  1. Greetings. My name is Michael. I have been a registered nurse since 2012. I first worked in pediatrics (2012-end of 2013) and I have been doing NICU since December 2013. I have worked in California my whole nursing career but I am originally from Queens, NY. I recently became certified (RNC-NIC) in December 2015. And in August 2016, I will be graduating with my MSN with a concentration in nursing education. My Dad has had some health troubles, necessitating open heart surgery and being put on the kidney transplant list as he was born with 1 kidney and glomerulonephritis. He has been on dialysis since March 2015. I want to be closer to my family so I will be moving back to New York in August 2016. Would anyone be able to shed some light and information on the NICUs in Manhattan? I have begun applying. I would really appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. :)

What specific schools did you take this exam for? Did they let you know what percentages they were looking for in terms of admission to their program?
  3. Oh, I was going by my exam and the actual ATI book. The book truly had minimal word problems but those test-makers love throwing surprises at us. I definitely read somewhere that there are different versions of the exam. Tedious perhaps but it seems for the most part simple.
  4. I am trying to recall - I do not think so or else I would have had a strong adverse reaction to your question (as word math can really suck). If there was it was very doable and basic. A lot of the math was very basic so I wouldn't worry!
  5. The ATI book is actually very, very good. I feel reading through it alone would be a wonderful prep. I think looking over the questions for the practice tests would be good too.The readings in the book have questions at the end that are actually pretty similar to the questions on the actual exam. The book is like $42.00 after tax and all that jazz (for those that don't know).
  6. Hello all. I took the TEAS V in September 2010. The test was a little tricky but overall not that bad. I just purchased the boo from Barnes and Noble, read it cover to cover (there were actually a few things covered from that book that I remember saying, "ok I definitely read about this.") I did not purchase practice tests or anything (I really do not have the money to do so). I am not one of those people that are like modestly smart - I have to work hard and I am definitely not a good test-taker. But I did score in the 97th percentile for this exam. It is definitely doable. Just do not freak-out. Keep your cool and do not make stupid mistakes (they are the bane of my existence). A lot of it is very basic stuff just make sure you read over everything carefully. Good luck to everyone - don't worry! :-)
  7. Hey Shazia, You know, I looked all over that book for 3.0 or something higher and I could not find it. It is definitely a study manual for TEAS V and it has 2010 on the back of it - the most updated version. Here is a link of the book I have - does this help at all? Study Manual for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Version V, ~, Assessment Technologies Institute, Book - Barnes & Noble Let me know.
  8. Hi there. I just took my TEAS V exam on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. It was not bad at all. The questions were all fairly reasonable especially math and science. My recommendation is to purchase the review book if and only if you have not seen the required study material for a long time - it is an excellent refresh. I skimmed through the review book but I did not find it very helpful although it did help boost confidence because as you go over each topic you can assess how much you know about it. So perhaps in that respect it is also good. Just focus on balancing equations, be really good with algebra and especially get human anatomy down as these are easy questions especially to gain those extra points on. The test is still pretty fresh in my mind so if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask me - don't be shy! -Miggs

Hello everyone. I took my TEAS V exam on Tuesday, September 21, 2010. It is a very reasonable exam. The chemistry on it is not difficult at all - just playing the numbers game with balancing equations. The math is also very easy too. My advice is to read carefully. It's all about how it is worded. I scored in the 97th percentile nationally and I have to say, I purchased the review book but it wasn't very helpful. Please do not waste the $40.00 - I highly advise to purchase only if you have not done math or science in a very long time. Good luck everyone and I hope this information was helpful! -Miggs
